The second and last mountain stage. Alarcon actually has to get a gap to Van der Velde, or he isn't going to win the race.

The favorites are Alarcon, Lloret and Perez Sanchez. Although, Lloret should be working for Van der Velde, rather then thinking about his own GC.

Only two riders attack; Semple and Priamo. Priamo takes both sprints. While Greipel takes the last remaining points from the peleton in both cases as well. When we hit the first parts of the climb, the break has a 5 min lead. But when we hit the steeper parts, the gap is back to 2 minutes.

When we hit the steeper parts, a few riders attack, reeling in the break immediately. Among them, Ortega, Loosli and Augustyn.

A little bit later 2 riders from the top 3 go, Wu follows. Where is Van der Velde?

Wu can't keep up with the pace, and after sometime Alarcon goes solo! Van der Velde is still in the pack.

Then finally, there goes Van der Velde, countered by Zubeldia and Loosli. Way to late though.

Alarcon has a big enough gap to Perez Sanchez when he enters the final k.

An easy win for the Venezuelan. Perez Sanchez gets second.

2 minutes behind Alarcon, Zubeldia gets third. Van der Velde ends 4th.
