We're in Australia, and it's spring here. The stage is only 42 km, but their is a lot of wind which might cause troubles. The GC favorites better keep at the front.

The favorites for todays victory are Impey, Greipel and Richeze. Let's see if one of them can pull it off, or an outsider like Guerao or Sutton can triumph.

Only two riders attack; Bodrogi and Galparsoro. They aren't given a lot of space though, as the peleton keeps the gap under 2 minutes at all time.

In the peleton, some action: a split! A Bbox rider can't keep up with the pace, and 21 get away. No huge GC favorite in the first group though, except for Riccardo Van der Velde.

They soon reach the front duo to form a group of 23 riders.

But then, 9 riders pull away from the chasing peleton. A Yamaha rider lets a gap fall. 9 riders, and at the tail of them a little Venezuelan climber. Alarcon is making the jump to the first group.

And he makes it, the best pure climber in the CT, is winning a stage race on the flat. The second group is already a minute behind.

And with 6k to go, the first group has a lead of 2 minutes already. But now it's time for the sprint. Greipel is being set up, followed by Richeze.

And they are pulling clear.

When the sprint starts, Impey and Sutton are making the jump though. Richeze looks to be in the best position.

And then Greipel fucks up as he gets stuck. Impey and Sutton have made it to Richeze's wheel.

Impey and Sutton even blast in to the lead, as the other are stuck.

500m to go. Impey is fading.

But just holds on. Yamaha wins a stage, but Evans is out for the win. Strange day.

Greipel gets third, with Richeze fourth.

2'34" later, the second group comes in. Jose Alarcon already leads all main competitors but 2'34". There goes Wiggle last chances of catching up.
