Mountain stage number 2
There was some early action in the form of splits in the peleton due to wind, but nothing came of it
A break went away, but skipping to the climb, the first to attack are Perez Marquez and Diniz
Evans and Ochoa Quintero attack next, catching those 2, and the last of the early break, Pauriol and Arvesen
They drop the 2 break riders, and form a decent lead
Mercado and Larsson make their moves
Before finally, Henao Montoya
The Colombian does manage to ride past Larsson, Mercado and Gustov
But Evans is turning the screw up front, only Ochoa Quintero keeping up
Henao Montoya catches Diniz and Perez Marquez, then he and the Cuban are able to bridge to Evans
Perez Marquez is dropped again soon after though
Behind them, Mercado is making his way across to Diniz, leaving Larsson and Gustov
Alarcon and Taaramae are closing on their teammate, having ridden away from the peloton, picking up Ferrio along the way. Larsson is only the 3rd best climber in the team, but is team leader due to the TT - but that tactic clearly hasnt worked out
Henao Montoya and Evans head into the final kilometre, Ochoa Quintero is dropped
But Evans has more strength in store, and he wins the stage
Ochoa Quintero 3rd
Perez Marquez 4th
Mercado 5th
Then Alarcon leads the sprint for 6th
