Herald Sun Tour - Stage 2
The Rider
i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/HeraldSunTour2_zpsc7818c53.png

Stage Favourites:

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Matthews, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/alp.png Forero, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Drapac & i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Meyer

Sprinters are favourites for this one but with a hill so close to the finish will they decide the stage?

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht1_zps2e63f0d1.jpg

The 2 man break today consisted of the young jersey wearer, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Bush, and the Chinese champ, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cpl.png Liu.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht2_zps6114b9a6.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen sprinting to claim 2 bonus seconds with 122 kilometres to go, he would do the same with 78 kilometres to go.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht3_zpsa40e38ea.jpg
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/evo.png Evonik - Signal Iduna setting pace.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Bush would move into the KOM jersey today, claiming the max points with 43 KM to go. Like yesterday the break would be caught early, no one is out front with 30 KM to go.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht4_zps321029b2.jpg

Intermediate sprint with 11 KM to go:

- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/alp.png Forero - 6 points/6 seconds
- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png Vingerling - 4 points/4 seconds
- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Matthews - 2 points/2 seconds

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht5_zpsfb6246d5.jpg

Before we know it the sprint is on, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png McConvey did push on the pace over the final climb but not enough to distance anyone. It is a really scrappy one today. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/alp.png Alpina - Avianca and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Fletcher - Garneau put in a big effort early.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht6_zps94f45510.jpg
200 meters to go.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Meyer takes the lead, but there are multiple riders coming from behind.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht7_zps67bcb314.jpg
.......

Both i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Cano and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen are coming up fast, each sprinting for themselves. A good tactic to come from behind?

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/ht8_zps5e98a606.jpg
A bizarre 1-2 for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png ONCE-Eroski Cycling Team.

After a really strange sprint i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Cano takes the win and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen finishes second, the second place sees the Costa Rican move into the race lead. They both sprinted late on and that proved to be the key today.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png Nikolaev came from well behind, really fast, and rounds out the podium, the same could be said for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Drapac who finished fourth. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/evo.png Geschke, finishes fifth, consolidates his lead in the points classification but is down to second in GC. The TT is up next, no one is more than '22 seconds down.
