Heading into the mountains - and hopefully, we'll finally get to see the first attacks of this stage race. There's also a few intermediate sprints for the sprinters.

Unsurprisingly, no one dared to attack to begin with - and that meant that the sprinters could fight it out for the bonus points. The first one was won by Barclay ahead of Radolcha and Gottfried while Barclay also took the 2nd one, this time ahead of Gottfried and Martinez.

Shortly after, Mazur initiated the first attack of this tour.

Page, Manarelli and Saldarriaga went with him, and these four established a group.
Having now seen and learned how to attack, Oliphant, Rincon and Moschella also attacked shortly before the 1st climb. The first two joined the four-man-group while Moschella was caught in-between the peloton and the leading group.

Moschella was eventually caught while the leading group after a few km of climbing splitted up. Saldarriaga's relays were too much to handle for Page, Manarelli and Oliphant who were dropped. Rincon managed to hold on for a little longer, but eventually, Saldarriaga dropped both him and Mazur.
More importantly, though, Serrano (YouTube) decided to launch a surprise attack with 7 km to go of the climb.

Lots of counter attacks followed, led by Schwab, who were apparently not injured from last stage's crash. Rodas, Colorado, Astarloza and Quintero were with him. All of them pretty much attacked all the way to the top. Saldarriaga passed the top first, though, c. 20 seconds ahead of the group of attackers.

During the downhill, a group of the following riders had established behind Saldarriaga: Delgado (Quiksilver), Quintero, Serrano (YouTube), Mazur, Schwab (LEGO), Rodas, Rincon (Red Bull), Astarloza (Bbox) and Colorado (Benfica). They had a 1 minute up and 50 seconds down.

With 1-2 km to go, the peloton had the front group within reach - but they could also see Saldarriaga and a possible stage win. Did Saldarriaga have anything left for the final sprint?

Unfortunately for Saldarriaga, he didn't seem to have much left. With a few hundreds of metres left, he was caught by the group, led by Delgado.

... and in the end, Delgado also took the win! He very much deserved it as he was the one who primarily led the chase.
