A flat rated stage but with some slippery roads it will be a miracle to have a classics mass sprint finish, which didn't even happen in the second stage during a sunny day

On the first climb the favorites battled for the points and Luis Leon Sanchez was first at the top. Then the a lot of attacks started, almost everyone wanting to go in the breakaway

On the second climb there were circa 10 riders broke from the pack but they were spread one by one on the road. Mehr - Wenige was leading the race at that point

In the end, only two other riders made it into the breakaway: Eastman and Tschopp. But they never joined the German rider that preferred to ride by himself

Mehr Wenige took a lot of KoM points today but after scoring no points in the previous stages, he had no chance to take the red jersey from Talabardon, who scored a few points today as well

60 kilometers before the finish, Eastman and Tschopp were brought back in the pack and then THE MADNESS STARTED...

Yesterday, Tenorio lost the white jersey after a crash and today it seems that the same thing will happen to Spilak, after crashing on one of the slippery descents

One kilometer before the top, the World Champion, Alejandro Valverde, had a flat tire and lose a lot of time to the pack, with most of the Cafe de Colombia team, going back to help him

With just 5 kilometers before the finish, 4 other important names went down: Gerdemann, Posthuma, Klemme and by far the most important one, Andrei Kashechkin

Meanwhile, Mehr Wenige had passed the last intermediate sprint having an advantage of 1 minute in front of the pack, with just 6 kilometers left

The German rider had an amazing ride today but he was caught right before the final kilometer, by a pack led by Pedraza, with no sign of the actual sprinters, the few that survived in the pack today

In the last corner 4 climbers were leading the pack as they were fighting for the stage win - Pedraza, Colom, Samuel Sanchez and Joaquin Rodriguez

It was a very close finish between Pedraza and Colom, but it was the Spanish rider who got the win! A great one for Energie - Diesel after some rather poor performances from Luis Leon Sanchez

There were some important changes in the GC today. Valverde and Kashechkin lost 2 minutes and 11 seconds, while Spilak finished the stage almost 5 minutes behind the winner.

8 riders leaved the race at the end of the stage: Klemme had to withdrew due to heavy injuries after the crash, while Reimer, Rizza, Sebright, Vinter and Eeckhout plus 2 riders from the control team didn't make it time and they were disqualified
