Hello, and welcome to the very first mountain stage. Today we are climbing three mountains, and today will for sure tell us who's here to win.

Two riders have created a gap to the peloton. It's Possoni (Lampre) and Vansevenant (Predictor). Do they really think they can climb three mountains? Pfft

In the peloton, there's no doubt there's high hopes for Menchov. Credit Agricole is leading the peloton.

It's all over for David Arroyo! Pereiro's main helper fell and has withdrawn from the race. A replay of the fall will come once the race has finished. Miholjevic (Liquigas) was also involved in the crash.

The breakaway group has been caught. All the leaders are at the front. Seems like they don't want their helpers to do anything.

A group of 28 riders has created a gap. This group consists of all the favourites, including Mancebo, Marchante, Menchov and Brajkovic. It doesn't seem like any favourite has been left behind.

Nothing spectacular happened on the 2nd mountain. Sanchéz Gonzalez, Iban Mayo and Serpa took the first three places in the mountain sprint.

Menchov's helper Pecharroman, who was in the front group, fell during the descent, but managed to get back to the group.

First serious attack! On the hill, just before the final mountain, the following riders attacked and got a gap:
Mancebo (Saunier Duval)
Marchante (Discovery)
Brajkovic (Cofidis)
Cataluna (Francaise)
Cuapio (AG2R)
Oliver (Astana)
Kashechkin (Unibet)
Serpa (Milram)
Caucchioli (Liquigas)

Behind them, the Credit Agricole riders are trying to bridge the gap.

Nozal immediately launched an attack from E2 and was followed by Denis Menchov, Oscar Pereiro and Jose Rujano.

In front, Mancebo is trying to breakaway from his group.

Also, the Menchov-group was caught again, and with 7 km to go E2 and E1 merge together -- but as said, Mancebo is setting a hard pace, and it doesn't seem like the others can keep up with him.

Mancebo is "caught", and it's now Marchante who's trying to get rid of the others. Behind them, Caruso and Nozal has been dropped. T-Mobile's GC-hopes are now on Guerini's shoulders.
