Let`s finish Colombia with that last time trial. 20,8km left and the podium is wide open. Amador in the lead is the best time trialist, so all expect the GC to be decided already. But neither VdB nor Machado or Martin are that weak time trialists to be that sure.
Also the rest of the top10 could easily be expected to mix a bit as we have a large range of time trialists in here.
Let`s check the top15 again.
I mentioned the top4, who will most likely fight for the podium.
Intxausti and Sella look a bit safe in their positions while De la Fuente as very weak time trialist must be afraid of the riders behind. In especially Keinath and Fothen should be much stronger.
Outside the top10 it doesn`t look likely that someone can jump into the top10 as most of them aren`t stronger than the guys ahead and the gaps are becoming bigger here as well.
Fothen impressively shows how to fight for a GC improvement. 1st at the first and also at the 2nd section. Ghyselinck and Malori are the two riders he did beat there to name some pure time trialists to fight for the stage win.
But in the end the German almost catches Samwel, who started ahead of him and takes the stage lead.
Next German on the road in Keinath. He is not as strong as Fothen but he isn`t losing a lot of time. 4s in the first third and another 5s in the 2nd. In the finish he just lost 13s but that said this is still 4s too much, so they will change positions in the GC.
Pedraza can`t be called a weak time trialist. Different to the usual Colombian mountain goats he is actually pretty decent against the clock.
In the end as he loses 44s to Fothen. But as close as it was between first two, the closer it`s between him and Fothen. 1s seperates them in the GC but the Colombian stays ahead. Lucky him.
No question that De la fuente would have hoped that the race would have ended without that time trial. He definitely is one of the weakest in the top10 and he impressively shows this. ~30s he loses every section what sums up to 1'29 in the end. This means a bigger GC drop to 10th as all 3 previous starters will pass him. But a 10th in this start field is probably still quite a success for the Spaniard seeing that he did beat climbers like Velits, Henao or Denifl.
Sella might be the other weak time trialist in that group here. But as he had a decent gap already he will keep his 6th in the GC.
Intxausti is pretty safe to finish inside the top5. But as best time trialist next to Amador of those he might have small hopes to finish on the podium.
And his time is promising. Just 11s down to Fothen on the provisional 2nd.
Machado definitely wants the podium. But is he feeling the pressure of Inxausti coming from behind? He already lost 17s of his 32s advantage after 2 sections. In the end he loses 22s and this will let him stay in the top4 at least. Podium, we will have to wait.
Former race leader Van den Broeck showed a great performance here, which is important for the team in the fight against relegation. And the Belgium shows another great fight today as he is faster than Machado to secure his podium.
The relegation issue is also there for Pendleton`s. The more important that Martin did gain some time yesterday.
Today though he was the weakest time trialist of the top4 and will also be dropped to 4th in the GC being overtaken by VdB and Machado.
Here comes the winner of the 2013 Vuelte a Colombia. There is no doubt after the first two sections, who are behind him.
As 4th and 3rd is is just a bit behind Fothen and ahead of all other top4 riders.
In the end he is 3rd 11s down to Fothen and behind Intxausti as 2nd.
In general it was a good race for some teams, who have huge relegation danger like Puma who also win the team rankings, Pendletons and Bacardi.
This obviously puts a lot of pressure on Venchi, who probably has almost no chance to avoid relegation and Heineken, who needs to perform better in the next races.
Also Project 1t4i is probably feeling more pressure now as Puma, Bacardi and Pendleton`s all gained points on them while UBS, Festina, B&O and Lotto ahead also gained decent points.
