Theres only this stage, and the time trial left to decide the tour, can anyone dethrone Pereiro? Or will the long flat section at the end of the stage be too much for any gaps.

Ruijh, Scholz, Kvasina, Mizbani, Raisin, Rodrigues Silva, Salerno, and Terciado.

They are later joined by Stubbe as Scholz takes the lead in the KoM competition by taking maximum points over the first two climbs.

9 becomes 13 on the longest climb of the day.

Ladino, Salamanca, Delgado and Jiminez Sanchez bridge up to the lead group having attacked around 50km ago.

The big guns attack from the peleton, Ghisalberti is the strongest.

Pereiro and Pozzovivvo follow, with Rojas Diaz just behind them.

Up front, Jiminez Sanchez takes the mountain points but Scholz has done enough to take the jersey at the last possible chance - theres no mountain points on offer on the final two stages.

Ghisalberti still leads the chase, while Merckyx has joined Pereiro and Pozzovivvo. In between them and the peleton are Rojas Diaz, Gonzalez Capilla and Caucchiolli.

The peleton chase hard and some riders are struggling to keep up. Xavier Tondo is one who is dropped.

Uran is dropped too! As are Arriagada and Garate amongst others.

Up front, Jiminez Sanchez, Terciado and Kvasina attack away from the break group as Ghisalberti, Pereiro, Merckyx and Pozzovivvo bridge up with it.

And soon they are the only 3 infront of the peleton. The gap is small though and it all comes together for the final sprint. Jiminez Sanchez and Kvasina still are infront though.

But in a tight finish, the winner is Jurgen Vandenbroeck! Only just ahead of Arrieta and Caucchioli.

Xavier Tondo's top 10 dream is over, he falls from 9th to 24th. Grivko replaces him in the top 10 as he moves up to 10th. Uran is no longer the best placed Colombian but remains in the top 5, falling from 4th to 5th.
