After a small TT, there is an hilly stage showing that this race is not for those who like flat terrain. Brajkovic is the race leader and he will surely try to keep it. If anyone wants to take the lead from him, will have to gain time because in this race there are no bonus seconds. About favourites, it's possible to name a few, Schumacher, Anza and Efimkin.
Poulhiès, Danacik and Saldarriaga are the first three, respecively in the first intermediate sprint. Gallego Martin and Costa are the rest of the breakaway.
Despite the hard chase performed by Wii Racing and of having a teammate in the early break, Torres attacks from the pack at 85km to go.
Silly move as he is caught 5km later.
In the second intermediate sprint, the podium is the same in the same order (Poulhiès, Danacik and Saldarriaga). Bad news for Jaoa Costa as he seems to be dropped.
Wii Racing try to keep the gap short and by the intermediate sprint, it no longer passes the 4 minutes.
Danacik passes Gallego Martin right on the KOM mark. Saldarriaga is, once again, the 3rd.
In the last sprint, Gallego Martin is the first in front of Danacik and Saldarriaga. The fact that it was an uphill sprint may have hurt Poulhiès' chances. (sorry, forgot to take the screen)
At 5km to the end of the second categorized mountain, Costa is caught by the pack. The disadvantage to the front is no bigger than 1'20''.
Poulhiès lost contact with the group and is now being caught and MartÃnez and Murgoitio attack.
As well as Anza.
Terciado, Brajkovic, Ratti and Montaño also follow.
MartÃnez got 20 KOM points as he passes first. Murgoito and Anza complete the first three.
Not even after the hill do the attacks stop! Moves from Schumacher, Efimkin, Moreno, Henao Montoya and Perez Cuapio.
Gonzalo, Pedraza, Riblon, De Ketele also attack while Starbucks is leading the pack.
And shortly after, it's Danielson time to move as he follows Ortega.
At 21km to go, the situation:
E1 (Henao Montoya, Moreno, Schumacher and Perez Cuapio).
+ 38'' - E2 (Efimkin, Brajkovic and MartÃnez).
+ 34'' - E3 (Ortega, Pedraza, Gonzalo, Danielson, Riblon and De Ketele).
+ 26'' - P, lead by Santander and Benfica.
Brajkovic and Efimkin attack to join the front group.
Danielson also joins the group. 12km to go.
All front groups (except Riblon and De Ketele that were dropped and caught by the pack) join together and the advantage for the pack is nearly 40 seconds. 6km and a short but very steep ascent to go.
The gap between the group and the pack got shorter by the second and Schumacher, Perez Cuapio, Moreno and Anza (who came from the pack) attack on the hill. This order is the same in the KOM sprint.
After the hill, we can see a gap between some favourites. Brajkovic, the race leader, isn't in the front! Danielson, Tenorio, Montaño and Ratti attack, these last three jumped from the pack earlier on the hill.
At the entrance of the last kilometer, Schumacher is leading! Moreno is right behind him and Danielson is the first of the chasers.
Victory for the German though Danielson was clearly the fastest in this sprint as he came from behind to get second in front of Moreno.
Tenorio is fourth as he beats Anza and Terciado in the sprint.
Perez Cuapio arrives a little later. Montaño is right behind him.
And not much later, Brajkovic and Pedraza close the top 10 in front of Ratti, Henao Montoya and Ortega. Will there be any time gaps that would make Danielson race leader?
