Welcome back to Vancouver for Stage three of the Tour of Vancouver. Cold and overcast is the weather today, but it isn't very windy (yet), so we will most likely witness a normal sprint stage. Yesterdays stage showed us that Corioni i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kap.png, Vaitkus i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png and Kreder i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/sbp.png should be seen as top favourites should the stage progress as expected.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0715_15_48-Greenshot_zps28d9e3d9.jpg

With no KoM points on offer, nobody is overly interested in getting in the break. Eventually, it's Zmorka i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png who attacks.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0715_18_41-Greenshot_zpsc8fb2c4f.jpg

The move however doesn't stick, so the peleton comes in to the sprint together. Corioni i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kap.png beats Vaitkus i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png and Rangel i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png to the points.

At last a move seems to have gotten away. It's again Zmorka i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png, as well as Salinas i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png, Sequera i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mac.png (I wonder wether he'll stick with it this time?) and Slagter i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png. With 145km to go, they've got an advantage of just under a minute. The peleton doesn't really seem content with letting them go however.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0715_25_47-Greenshot_zpsf4664484.jpg

Just as the gap had started to rise a little, we have more attacks from the peleton. Sousa i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kar.png, Moyano i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fcb.png and Lloyd i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/b3b.png go on the attack with 132 km to go.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0715_56_59-Greenshot_zpsdf41b0fa.jpg

In the end the move doesn't even last 10km. However it caused the gap to the breakaway to decrease to only 45".

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0715_58_55-Greenshot_zps899ae992.jpg

Salinas beats Zmorka to the sprint, while Sequera gets third. With 122km to go, the gap has risen again to 1'42".

Salinas again wins the intermediate, whilst Sequera beats Zmorka to third this time around. With 78km to go, the gap is at 3'07".

For thirty kilometres, nothing interesting happens, until Altanzul i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png punctures. He won't make it back to the peleton, but isn't the biggest loss for La Vie Claire. The gap to the breakaway is 2'39".

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_06_51-Greenshot_zpsb5ced6fd.jpg

The next and last intermediate is a very tight one, but Zmorka just about beats Salinas to it. Sequera third once more. With 34km to go, the gap is at 2'10".

IS #4

With 22km to go and the breakaway within a minute of being caught, Slagter i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png goes solo. He pulls out a gap of half a minute on his former companions.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_13_49-Greenshot_zpsb4cbd98c.jpg

Zmorka and Sequera get caught, while Salinas tries to bridge the gap to Slagter.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_15_19-Greenshot_zps0bc1c626.jpg

In the end, both of them failed, so with 13km to go, everything is back together and gearing up for the sprint.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_16_09-Greenshot_zpsf568bb02.jpg

With 3700 metres to go, the first sprint trains are being formed. Well, actually it's only one dominant Privatbank train, which other riders latched on to. This is the situation:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png Buts
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png Tzortzakis
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png Vaitkus
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png Grosu
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Tolleson
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fcb.png Pierzga

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_17_49-Greenshot_zps15b2217c.jpg

Turgot i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png has hung on to the Privatbank train, while Swedbank are desperately trying to get Kreder i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/sbp.png to the front. Corioni i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png is another bit behind.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_22_31-Greenshot_zps7647f059.jpg

Kreder i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/sbp.png has caught up, and now everybody bar Vaitkus i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png, who is in pole position on his teammate Tzortzakis i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png wheel, is sprinting.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_24_09-Greenshot_zpsec892ba1.jpg

Vaitkus i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png has opened his sprint, and is looking good. Grosu i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png and Tolleson i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png look like his only challengers at the moment.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_25_20-Greenshot_zpsd01e752c.jpg

With 300 metres to go, Grosu is in front, while Vaitkus is struggling to find speed.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_26_36-Greenshot_zps4b6709c0.jpg

Grosu i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png lifts his hands in victory, he got the win! And what a superb one it was, usurping the beatifuly placed Vaitkus i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png, who finishes third in the end. Tolleson i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png rounds off the podium. Behind them we have the two top favourites Corioni i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kap.png and Kreder i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/sbp.png manage to get a Top 5.

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/Man%20Game/Reports/Vancouver/Stage%203/2014-08-0716_27_25-Greenshot_zps28e62086.jpg

In the second row, we have Pierzga i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fcb.png, Anton Martin i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/csc.png, Lasca i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kap.png, Rangel i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png and Turgot i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lvc.png in the Top 10.
