Kai Reus storms into a strong lead, defeating his teammate while the other 3 all slot in to the Top 6.

The next two names of note on course have gone through the 2nd checkpoint in 2nd and 3rd. Rolland 9 seconds behind, and Elijzen 10 second behind.

Both gain on Reus in the closing stages as they charge uphill towards the finish line, and while its close, they havent gained enough on him. Each gaining 6 seconds in the final 3 kilometres.

Moving on to the next two challengers. Florian Morizot and Thor Hushovd. They can't be separated in their battle for a provisional 5th place, 24 seconds down - while Luke Durbridge goes 10th

Now out on course though are two of the big favourites for stage and overall: Koren and Ignatiev. But things arent looking good for either of them at the first checkpoint!

Both need to quickly get their act together. Perhaps the conditions have changed? Theyre riding on the same conditions that the likes of Rolland and Elijzen finished with, but a stronger wind was around when those two started, and when Reus rode - perhaps that stronger wind was advantageous? Or maybe just bad performances from the pair.

Both do start to improve though, while Venchi's Bodnar delivers 7th place at the finish. Ignatiev was expected to win all time trials he faced this year, but could this be 2 defeats out of two? Pressure is on!

After the first split, Koren and Ignatiev rode much better than Reus, Ignatiev inparticular. But it hasnt been enough, the gap was too much to close and Ignatiev and Koren must settel for 4th and 6th respectively.
