Firstly I would like to apologise for messing up this race, it's not fair on those who went well, and it's not fair for those who went badly. Hopefully this is the most fair solution, but I fully accept any and all blame for my screw up, and for ruining anyone race. Now, after some hasty roadworks we are back under way.
The Key stage here in South Africa this short circuit, with a summit finish will sort the men from the boys, and will probably decide our overall winner. THe favourites are Ginanni, Roche and Froome.
And off we go.
Five riders are eventually allowed clear: Teklehaimanot (Jag), Hansen (PVL), King (ING), Burlutsky (ARM) and Boswell (HTC)
Hansen, who was 4th overall before today, wins the sprint to move just 34 seconds back. Boswell is second and King third. In fact this entire break starts just 50 seconds off the lead, and the peloton will have to be very vigilant.
And the peloton are careful. As the break take us onto the circuit for the first time they have a gap of just 4 minutes with 80km to go.
Boswell times his attack perfectly to win the KoM sprint as we cross the line for the first time. King and Teklehaimanot are next, but Boswell has now taken the lead in the KoM competition.
As we cross the line for the first time the peloton has neatly split under Metinvest's pace. 76 riders in each group, Barrio is the only big name to miss out.
4 riders all go back for water on the second climb, and none notice that they have let a gap form, will they be able to get back. Barrio won't, as he is just sitting in the second bunch, 3 minutes behind the peloton.
More riders are sent to get water, and they too get dropped, Rothaus lost three riders on that lap. I hope that doesn't come to haunt Bellis.
On the flat as we head round to the next lap Ginanni falls!
He soon as 4 team mates with him trying to get him back in the bunch. Some riders dropped on the previous lap join him.
Teklehaimanot beats Boswell and King to the top of the second climb.
The peloton cross the line at 2'12", but Vespa are fully three minutes further back.
Repsol have no respected for the Italian though, as they send Acevedo on the attack.
He sits up on the downhill, but his attack has sparked something and as the road flattens Huzarski attacks. Lejman, Acevedo and Mandri follow.
Metinvest allow them to build up a thirty second lead as we start the climb yet again. The brekaway's time in the sun is nearly over.
And at the finish line the chasers catch the break.
The peloton are 53" later.
The Ginanni group have closed slightly on the peloton that lap, but are still 2'36" behind them.
Burlutsky and Hansen get dropped from the leading group on the descent
And as we start the climb for the fifth time they are pulled back into the peloton. The break have a gap of 1'25"
Acevedo attacks on the climb for mountain points, splitting the break, only Lejman and Mandri can go with him. It's in that order that they cross the line.
Ginanni looks badly injured, as he can't even keep up with his team mates.
Huzarski does well to catch the leaders.
King also manages to get back to them. None of them wants to push to hard on the flat, but it's letting the peloton come back.
The gap is still at 1'20" with 20km to go, and with the wind now hitting 50 km/h the peloton are having a hard time getting the chase going.
The attackers then sit up, meaning 3km later they are pretty much caught.
Immediately Lejman attacks again, followed by Acevedo and Mandri. Ahead you can see riders about to be lapped.
Metinvest's Prever just rides all the attacks down.
Acevedo gives it one last go over the top. Mandri is trying to follow.
10 km to go and Acevedo is clear on the downhill. He seems to be trying to disguise himself in a group of lapped riders in the hope the bunch will forget about him.
As soon as the road flattens his 10 second gap disappears. Everyone knows they have to distance Hoffman and it's now Der on the attack.
Soler, Gil and Doi follow.
Now Acevedo follows, just 4km left to ride.
Vansummeren and Huzarski attack as we head towards the final climb. Ahead all the attackers have come together.
Gil is attacking into the lead.
Metinvest have pulled back Acevedo, Vansummeren and Huzarski. Roche is perfectly placed in 4th wheel.
They start the climb with 2.5km left to go.
Gil has a 15 second gap. Der is trying to shut him down.
Roche and Roy have launched themselves out of the peloton.
They catch the chasers and all start to sprint. Gil still has a 20 second advantage.
Gautier and Flugel now come out from the peloton.
Ghisalberti and Scheurs are just behind them.
Roche and Roy move into second and third as Gil's advantage vanishes. Flugel is coming through the other attackers.
Roche takes the lead. Flugel is up to second now, and looks like the only man who could challenge Roche.
300m to go in this agonisingly long sprint. Roche looks like he is starting to tie up.
But Roche has enough left in the tank to take victory.
Flugel gets second, just passing a lapped rider on the line.
It's incredibly tight for third, but Scheurs just takes it over Froome Gautier and Roy.
After that comes Kessler, Dowsett, Ghisalberti and Lebas.
However, Hoffman is in the bunch. So it's not clear if Roche has done enough to take the overall lead.
Ginanni crosses the line nine minutes down, a disaster for the Italian.
There is a time gap between the first two riders and the rest, but it's just 18 seconds, which means that Hoffman hangs onto the overall lead by 14 seconds over Roche and Flugel. Schreurs is 4th at +24 before Bole who hangs onto fifth thanks to his bonus seconds.
