There are just 15 riders left to come in but Ill quickly recap over the events so far.
Tyler Butterfied of Bermuda was the first to start and his time held the lead for a long time before an impressive ride by Ben Jacques-Maynes. Matti Helminen beat the American by 1 second before Danny Pate gained the lead.
Jan Hruska knocked 9 seconds off that time, before Matias Medici went 54 seconds faster.
The current leader though, is a Brit.

Jiminez Sanchez goes 21st as Mikel Astarloza goes 9th, level on time with Martinez Trinidad. Next in is Roman Kreuziger.

Roman Kreuziger goes 5th but is soon bumped down to 6th as Santos Gonzalez Capilla goes 3rd! 46'12 means HealthNet's Spaniard is just 2 seconds shy of 2nd placed Medici.

Has Santos Gonzalez just put in a race-winning ride?

A bad day for Austrian TT Champ Gerhard Trampusch who goes 22nd, but its a better day for Tinkoff's Rigoberta Uran who goes 8th.

Nicacio and Grivko are both contenders for the young riders jersey should Txurruka fail, but 10th and 11th respectively still leaves Grivko's teammate Roman Kreuziger in pole position to became the best young rider.

Its time for the Pre-stage GC Favourites to come in. Oscar Pereiro and Jens Voigt not only need to beat each other but must also lose no more than 8 seconds on Santos Gonzalez.
Here comes Pereiro! And its... 9th! He equals Uran's time of 46'59 but is given a lower position. He goes 47 seconds slower than Santos Gonzalez and can allbut say goodbye to any GC hopes.
Can Voigt fare better? Yes! He is 19 seconds better than Pereiro and equals Kreuzigers time. Voigt goes 7th (Kreuziger 6th), but this means Santos Gonzalez is now the overwhelming favourite for overall victory!

With 47'20, Domenico Pozzovivvo goes 18th but that is much better than former race leader Sergio Ribeiro who can only manage 38th, with 47'57.
Just 3 men left to finish!

Benoit Salmon is the slowest of the 3 and still has nearly 3km to go as Ribeiro finished. Salmon goes 118th, nearly 5 minutes down on Wiggins!

Finally, Amets Txurukka - in need of the time trial of his life.
![i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/cal41.png](https://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/cal41.png)
He finishes 91st, 3'57 begind Wiggins, and the rumour is that he needed to be less than 3 minutes behind to keep the leaders jersey.
