The 3rd hilly stage, and its all still to play for
Ginanni seems in a determined mood today, showing an early show of power by taking the first KoM
After that, 9 riders went clear in a breakaway: Fouquet, O'Grady, Burke, Lewis, Tennant, Arvesen, Cappelle, Pichot, Van Mingeroet
An aging O'Grady showed himself to still be good enough to at least win an intermediate sprint, Van Mingeroet having taken the other
Fouquet took 1 KoM, Lewis the other - 45km left, and a few not so-steep looking hills, the break leads by 3'30 on the pack
So what do the big favourites have to offer? Its time to find out with 35km to go - the breaks gap down to 2 minutes - and Freire attacks. Koren, Appleby, Sutherland, Grabovski and Kunitski follow
Not long after it is Rast, Sulzberger, Froome, Fahnert, and Rooijackers. Then another wave with Roux, Scheirlinckx, Leukemans, Ljungblad and Ospina.
Grabovski leads the attacks past the break - but some of the break then respond themselves
It settles, leaving a front group of 23, with 2 chasers
Well, I say settles - more attacks from the peloton. Anza, Sabido, Dempster, Westling and Ginanni. Gaywood following a little after.
Still no Wiggle involvement - from either Ponzi or Nocentini, who started the day 1st and 2nd in GC, as a group of 24 is now established up front.
Tennant, Froome, Appleby (100% Me), Rast (Ernst&Young), Sulzberger, Grabovski, Lewis (IrnBru), Leukemans, Van Mingeroet (Kenda), Kunitski (M&M), Freire, Burke (Nokia), Sutherland, Arvesen (NVidia), Fouquet (Sony Ericsson), Ljungblad (IKEA Bianchi), Rooijackers, O'Grady (Lego), Ospina, Koren, Fahnert (Starbucks), Ginanni, Cappelle (Vespa) and Pichot (WalMart).
There are 7 chasers, 50 seconds back: Gaywood (100% Me), Dempster (IrnBru), Anza, Scheirlinckx (Sony Ericsson), Westling (IKEA Bianchi), Sabido (WalMart) and Roux (Wii Racing).
The peloton are roughly 40 seconds back. Hard to tell why Wiggle thing chasing is the best option, they could be throwing this race away. If so, the new race leader could be Ernst&Young's Rast - or with things so tightly placed, whoever wins the stage (provided they made the front group on Stage 3)
Intermediate sprint with 7km to go, a chance for more bonus seconds. Sulzberger takes it ahead of Rast and Freire
After the peloton pass through the sprint, we finally see an attack from Nocentini! He is followed by 2 Brits: Fleeman and Cleaver; as well as Ben Day
But Nocentini has left it so late, theres no way of getting back to this front group of 24 - he is struggling as it is to get up to the chasing 7 as the leaders start to sprint it out with 2km to go
Ljungblad charges away, unfollowed, into a good lead
Into the final kilometre, Ginanni waits patiently behind Cappelle as Sulzberger, Sutherland and Pichot start making their moves around him
But now he kicks, getting himself in front of Sulzberger
Ginanni closes down Ljungblad. The Swede risked it going early, and its not quite paid off
Ginanni takes the stage! Ljungblad is 2nd, Sulzberger 3rd
After the front 24, Gaywood leads in the next 7 - has he closed the gap?
Nocentini could only muster a weak sprint, so did Ben Day rescue him here? The seems to be a noticeable gap though...
And then behind them Swift and Napolitano lead in the peloton. Somewhere in there is Ponzi. Will he keep the race lead - does he even care? He didnt even try to attack today

Spoiler
There were no gaps! A very very lucky escape for Wiggle - I thought there had been a 20 second gap between Roux and Day - but I guess it must have been 19.
Ponzi keeps the race lead. Lucky boy.
