Tour of Britain - Stage 5
SportingNonsense
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain89.jpg

Another hilly stage, which will hopefully provide an interesting finale.

The day was dominated by a solo break from Giaux - clearly recovered from Stage 4's crash. Lewis, Kornetsky and Burke chase him, but never really got close as Giaux swept up all 3 intermediate sprints
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain68.jpg

At the 3rd, the battle for 2nd palce saw a continuation of the points jersey battle. Ciolek edged out Casper, reducing the Frenchman's lead to 1
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain69.jpg

Kunitski, Sabido and Freire launch a move from the peloton
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain70.jpg

Giaux took the first KoM points as more attacks come - Scheirlinckx, Gaywood, Ljungblad, Grabovski, Fleeman, Rast, Koren, Longo Borghini and Roux
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain71.jpg

Ljungblad is the first to catch Giaux
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain72.jpg

Anza, Leukemans, Nocentini and China now attack
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain73.jpg

Now its Rooijackers, Sulzberger and the 2nd and 3rd overall riders: Casper and Ponzi. Ciolek seems likely to lose the race lead - will one of these two take over?
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain74.jpg

Now Ginanni attacks
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain75.jpg

Roux takes the 2nd KoM, ahead of Ljunblad and Rast
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain76.jpg

We have a grop of 5 (Koren, Ljungblad, Roux, Kunitski, Rast), then a group of 8 (Grabovski, Longo Borghini, Gaywood, Nocentini, China, Freire, Scheirlinckx, Sabido) and then another 8 (Leukemans, Rooijackers, Anza, Casper, Sulzberger, Ponzi, and Ginanni - with Giaux clinging on)
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain77.jpg

The 3rd KoM also goes to Roux, ahead of Koren and Ljungblad
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain78.jpg

The groups come together, with 2 casualties. Giaux is predictably one, but Casper also could not keep up - he can only watch with Ponzi just infront of him, potentially riding into a race lead
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain79.jpg

Nocentini leads the way, he is another well placed rider after his Stage 3 win
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain80.jpg

And it seems Ponzi isnt going to have it easy, he is struggling off the back with Sulzberger
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain81.jpg

A determined Sulzberger pulls them back though, after a 5km chase
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain82.jpg

We're closing in on the finish now, and Gregory Rast attacks!
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain83.jpg

He leads into the final kilometre - can he finally end Ernst&Young's barren season? They have had no wins - not even a jersey
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain84.jpg

Grabovski leads the chase, sprinters Gaywood and Freire not ideally placed to be a threat
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain85.jpg

And he does it! Gregory Rast wins for Ernst & Young!!
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain86.jpg

Grabovski takes 2nd, Koren 3rd - Simone Ponzi will take over the race lead.
i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/DailyManGame2010/britain87.jpg

Casper just couldnt keep up with the front group, but still finishes ahead of the peloton that is led by Petacchi, Swift and Rowe
