Tour du Faso - Stage 3
SportingNonsense
Stage 3 and the first taste of cobblestones. Will their presence confuse the AI and lead to a mixed up stage?

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-1.jpg

Two in the break today. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/mtn_zps3dcc4d70.png Nel and i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh498/Hiiam2412/Barclayskenmicro_zps52dc0de5.png Marque. The latter crashed yesterday, so time bonuses arent much good for him.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-2.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/mti_zps330e0e2d.png Vasylyuk nipped out of the peloton to take the final 2 points.

The cobbles stretch the peloton, and a handful of riders get dropped. But they get back, so it doesnt matter that it was a narrow road section!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-3.jpg

In the remaining two intermediate sprints Marque decided to pay an interest. He beat Nel both times, to deny Nel making too much time gains. Behind them Kip, Hochmann, Abdallah and Schinker all went chasing after the 2 points available each time. Kip took it once, Hochmann the other time.

With 10km to go, the breakaway due were caught. And today - despite the success of leaving Roelandt's to his own devices yesterday - i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/btc_zpse1fa0b09.png Bouygues Telecom are creating a train with Locatelli and El Fares.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-4.jpg

Hochmann, Kip, Vaitkus, Abakoumov, Vasylyuk, Ghafari, Veelers, Wippert, Groenewegen and Schinker all join it - spread in a long line as El Fares opens the sprint. Theyre on a slight incline of 2% up to the final kilometre banner. Greipel is randomly nowhere.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-5.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/air_zps84b8db92.png Vaitkus is caught napping when Roelandts opens his sprint, and a gap opens up behind Hochmann and Kip.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-6.jpg

And then another gap opens up as i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/btc_zpse1fa0b09.png Roelandts leaves Hochmann in the dust.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-7.jpg

Vaitkus recovers as he, Vasylyuk and Abakoumov get back on terms with Kip and Hochmann.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-8.jpg

But from a long way back i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Tom Veelers is flying!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-9.jpg

Jurgen Roelandts cruises to a 2nd stage win.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-10.jpg

And former Tour de France stage winner Veelers carries his speed through to take 2nd place, which could be crucial for UPC's relegation battle.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/fas3-11.jpg

Vasylyuk is having his first impressive race of the season, and takes 3rd.

And after his day in the break, JC Nel takes over the lead in the best Young rider competition.
