Stage 2, and the first of the sprint stages in this race. With the whole field within 5 seconds, the winner is almost certain to become the new race leader.
Adrien Niyonshuti seems somewhat out of place here in Burkina Faso, using up 10 race days with no climbs in sight. But he is looking to achieve something anyway and joins the breakaway along with Robert Gavenda and Suleiman Kangangi.
It is the same order through all 3 intermediate sprints, so Niyonshuti has gathered 18 seconds! It is perhaps more interesting to see Gavenda gain 12 seconds, as he is useful over the cobblestones.
The break last until around 7km to go - which should be close enough to the finish line for them to stay in the peloton and consolidate their time gains.
Sprint time then! ING move forward with King, Thire and Kip, tracked by Hochmann.
A little behind, Jeandesbosz, Vingerling and Greipel are followed by Abdallah, Vasylyuk, Roelandts, Stallaert and Veelers.
Thire opens the sprint, and there is confusion behind in the WWE train.
Rather than follow his sprinting leadoutman Vingerling, Greipel has opted to try to close the gap to Hochmann's wheel.
After a good leadout, Kip makes his move.
But charging through is Roelandts - with fellow Belgian Abakoumov on his wheel.
Kip had the headstart, but the speed is with Jurgen Roelandts and he storms through to win the stage - just!
Hochmann holds off his teammate Abakoumov in a Die Berg 3-4.
Roelandts does take the race lead, but up in 2nd overall is Niyonshuti! The rest of the break are rewarded too, with Gavenda and Kangangi going 1-2 in the Young rider's competition. Kangangi clung on to finish last in the peloton today - but ahead of Marque, Voeckler and Bablidze who all crashed in the run in.
