Tour of Taiwan - Stage 9
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_1.jpg
Last chance for some time reduction before the final and by far hardest stage.
Jayco Redbull can wait for the other teams today as they still have i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/redbull.png Veloso in a perfect situation while i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/redbull.png Gadret is also in a good position.

But riders like i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/focus.png Sicard, i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Vespa.png Carrara or i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Meiji.png Sano must do something today if they want a better result.

Also i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/emu.png Augustyn and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/hollister.png Kiserlovski must attack as both lost some time so far.

All the riders that are in a good GC position due to an successful breakaway just have to stay in the front group today to keep a chance for an unexpected overall result.

Four riders form the break of the day. Again there is a Export and a Puma rider in this group.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_2.jpg
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/emu.png Krasnoperov (22nd, + 5`08)
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Meiji.png Hiratsuka (40th, + 9`51)
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Aker.png Jaramillo (53rd, + 14`10)
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/puma.png Dumoulin (54th, + 16`43)
While Krasnoperov is a the fields best climber and definitely also a good rider for tomorrows stage and a danger for the GC guys, Hiratsuka probably wants to improve in the KoM ranking today.

Once again Oz is doing the pace in the peloton. They really want to control the race for William Ford.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_3.jpg

First sprint for Krasnoperov ahead of Jaramillo and Dumoulin.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_4.jpg

At the highest point of the day Hiratsuka indeed attacks to grab the points.
Dumoulin and Jaramillo follow without big ambitions.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_5.jpg

Pirelli now started to do some work in the peloton, too. Kinney still leads the race, but with 87km to go and still 7`10 for the break he virtually lost it now.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_6.jpg
Meanwhile the gap became bigger and with 67km it`s almost 9 minutes. So probably another breakaway win.

Hiratsuka also takes the 2nd KoM sprint and is just 1 point from Seeldraeyers now. Definitely another possible battle tomorrow.
Krasnoperov and Jaramillo on the next places.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_7.jpg

Last sprint and nobody is really interested as all just want to save energy for the final.
Jaramillo, Hiratsuka and Krasnoperov grab the points.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_8.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/focus.png Brice Feillu attacks out of the peloton, but it might be too late to bridge the gap.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_9.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/hollister.png Scheirlinckx and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Vespa.png Quinziato with the expected attack follow the French man.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_10.jpg

Also some attacks in the breakaway. With 17km and 5min advance Krasnoperov sees good chances for a great overall position and attacks. Hiratsuka tries to counter.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_11.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/redbull.png Moreno with a puncture at a very bad time. He now has to work hard to come back.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_12.jpg

The breakaway reaches the hilly final and Krasnoperov attacks again.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_13.jpg

Just 1km for Krasnoperov to get another big Emu win. Jaramillo and Hiratsuka both missed their chance already in an earlier stage and obviously also today as the last ramp is not long enough to chase him back.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_14.jpg

So it`s indeed a 4th stage win out of a breakaway from Emu Export. Congrats to Krasnoperov, who is now the 2nd big favourite for the race win next to Veloso as both lead by some minutes to the former favourites.
Hiratsuka, Jaramillo and Dumoulin all finish 26s later.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_15.jpg

Then some small time gaps here.
First group including Gadret, Calzati, Kinney and Augustyn cross the line 3`39 later, so Kinney will indeed start in yellow tomorrow.

Next group with Morizot and Quinziato finishes with +4`03, while Sicard, Moreno, Kiserlovski, Ford, Veloso and all the sprinters and helpers even lose 4`18 on Krasnoperov today.
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Taiwan/mg_taiwan_9_16.jpg

So Veloso will still be the race main favourite now, but Krasnoperov is just a few seconds behind and normally the better climber, while most climbers are already 4min and more back. Surely not the ideal Jayco Redbull tactic today allowing Krasnoperov to join the fight for the podium.
So will it be a duel between these two or can another one shock them with a long way attack tomorrow?
