Tour de Suisse - Stage 9
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_2.jpg
The Tour de Suisse ends with a 32km hilly ITT.
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/santander.png Tenorio won the opening time trial and is again one of todays top favourites as also the biggest favourite for the 3rd podium spot. Popovych is just 2s behind and might challenge him a lot.
But most interesting thing is if i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin can hold on to his lead as also i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/festina.png Fothen on 2nd.

Also the fight for the next places is really close and we can expect some changes in the top10.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/ubs.png Chtioui
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_3.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Stenersen
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_4.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/milka.png Malori
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_5.jpg
Three pure time trialists without big hill skills. Malori was fastest after 11km, where most parts are completely flat but lost against the others on the more hilly part. Already in the climb to the 2nd check point he was a few seconds behind both of them and the same in the finish.
Chtioui sets the best time with Stenersen following within the same time. Malori was 2s slower than this duo.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pendletons.png Wiggins
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_6.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/jackwolfskin.png Donald
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_7.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wikipedia.png Van Rensburg
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_8.jpg
Three more time trialists to come. Wiggins and Donald the best so far, while Van Rensburg is similar to the first 3.
Donald with the by far best time at the first point. Almost 20s faster than Van Rensburg and Wiggins. Also on the 2nd his gap is almost 30s to the next in Chitoui and he can hold his speed until the end. New best time, while Wiggins is a bit disappointing today.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/festina.png Dees
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_9.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/sonyericson.png Danacik
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_10.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bacardi.png Grabovsky
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_11.jpg
Coming to the more puncheur like time trialists. Will they be favoured today just like in the prologue?
The short answer is: Yes!
Grabovsky starts the fastest with 1s ahead of the others and extends the lead after 2/3. Surprisingly Donald is still ahead and he will defend his provisional lead, but all 3 of them are far faster than the earlier starters. Donald must have a great day.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bacardi.png Keizer
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_12.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Kangert
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_13.jpg
2 riders that surely expected more. Keizer isn`t even in the top30 overall while Kangert is not much better.
At least today Keizer seems to be motivated and sets the best time on all points. Strong ride by the Dutch. Definitely a time to last long. Maybe even the stage for him? Kangert had a decent ride being in 2nd now but already 1'04 behind.

Coming to the fight for the top15:

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/spyker.png Devolder
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_14.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Velits
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_15.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/colombia.png Abal
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_16.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Vespa.png Pozzovivo
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_17.jpg
Pozzovivo and Abal lost time on the last mountain stage when they missed to enter the deciding group. Velits and Devolder never belonged to the top group and will be happy if they can reach the top10, more likely top15.
Surprisingly Pozzovivo is the strongest and is not far behind Keizer at half time, while Devolder, Abal and in especially Velits already lose quite a lot. The hilly advantage surely favours the Italian today.
Indeed he sets a new 2nd best time and just 14s behind Keizer. Abal is almost 30s behin ahead of Devolder, Kangert and Velits.

Now the top 10 fights:

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/ubs.png Gomez Marchante
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_18.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/jackwolfskin.png Ardila
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_19.jpg
These two started as 8./9. and are pretty close to each other. Just 2s in between. Both don`t have a very good ride. Ardila loses 10s on the Spaniard and so they change positions. But worse for them is that also Abal and Pozzovivo overtook them and so the top10 is in big danger for Ardila now.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Intxausti
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_20.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/nestle.png Denifl
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_21.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/milka.png Henao
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_22.jpg
Coming to the fight for the top5. All 3 of them are still looking to the 5th. Early you see Intxausti being the strongest of them. He started in 7th and 26s behind Henao in 5th but gained enough time today. 3rd best tiem at the moment behind Keizer and Pozzovivo and enough to finish 5th overall, while Pozzovivo makes a huge jump on the 6th ahead of Denifl in 7th and Henao in 8th makes a unlucky figure on the last day. This also means that Ardila is out of the top10 now.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wiggle.png Popovych
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_23.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/santander.png Tendorio
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_24.jpg
Just 2s between these two, who are fighting for the 3rd. Popovych had bad luck on some stages as he was clearly stronger in the mountains but couldn`t gain time on Tendorio, who has the advantage in the timetrial.
Same today: First checkpoint and Tendorio with a new best time, 12s faster than Popovych in 5th. Also after 23km Tendorio is fastest, 22s ahead of his opponent.
The Santander rider finishes 8s ahead of Keizer in the finish. Popovych definitely had a solid ride today being 4th with 2 more to come but also 30s behind the Spaniard. 4th for him in the overall.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/festina.png Fothen
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_25.jpg
Fothen crashed out in the Giro but obviously recovered pretty well. He was the only one, who challenged Pluchkin in the mountains. Still he was never really in danger. 2nd in the overall for Fothen. Great ride by the German.
Also today. 3rd at the moment just behind Tendorio and Keizer.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game/Suisse/mg_suisse_9_26.jpg
And here comes the yellow jersey. Pluchkin had enough time on Fothen. Still he is going full power again showing his complete stage race potential.
This will be a very close decision for the stage win. But in the end Tendorio was 4s faster and also wins the 2nd time trial in Switzerland.
Pluchking wins the Tour de Suisse 2012 totally deserved. He also wins the point and youth jersey.

Tschopp takes the KoM jersey to the joy of all the spectators here.
Pendelton`s Twicer surprisingly takes the team ranking after yesterdays brilliant move.
