The queen stage of the race is upon us. Will Alarcon confirm his favourtism? Will Samwel hold his yellow jersey? Or will any other rider upset the odds and be the king of this mountain?


Pineau, Moschella, Tiernan-Locke, Ortega, Brolin and Lewis are the riders in the break, today. They have an advantage of 7'35'' in the bottom of the first climb, with 62kms to go.

Ortega and Lewis are the best climbers of the breakaway and, with no surprise, they got an advantage over the rest, in the first climb. Ortega is the first over the uncontested KOM sprint.

Evans, Eltink, Petrov and Khalmuratov decide to attack with 37kms to go.

They dropped Khalmuratov, and establish a 30 seconds advantage over the peloton that holds until 10kms to go. Ortega and Lewis, however, are 3 minutes ahead.

He quickly passes Evans' group, but López Garcia is trying to catch him.

The Spanish can't get near him and Cataldo and Samwel also attack.

More and more attacks, but Alarcon continues to have a nice advantage over his direct chasers, who are Samwel and López Garcia.

Schwab comes from behind and catches Samwel and López Garcia under the 5kms banner. They are losing 45 seconds to Alarcon.
