Tour de Slovenie - Stage 2
The Rider
i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slo2_zps479fbcba.jpg

Stage Favourites:

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Peeters, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Caethoven, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/spr.png Awang & i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png Uugunbayar

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot1_zpsf1de7a0d.jpg

Early on only one rider broke free from the peloton, that rider was i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Stevenson.

He would take max points at the first climb of the day ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Masuda andi439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ano.png Firsanov who fought out the minor points behind.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot2_zpsadc00e21.jpg
Stoltz makes a cameo.

Shortly afterwards i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/evo.png Stoltz bridges a sizable gap across to Stevenson.... However, at the next climb, with 121 KM to go, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Stevenson comprehensibly distances the German so much so that i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/evo.png Stoltz retreats back to the peloton.

Once again i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Stevenson finds himself as the lone wolf of the breakaway.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot3_zpsa1b4d009.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Masuda would scoop up the minor KOM points, however, the Swede out front looked like he was securing the KOM jersey today.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot4_zpsc37ebcdd.jpg
50 KM to go: Stevenson @ 4'00.

It was the GC men who contested the bonus seconds on offer at the intermediate sprint. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png De Greef would pick up four points/seconds and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/spr.png Saggiorato would pick up 2.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot5_zpse98e9406.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lin.png Team Live Nation and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team have been the most prominent chasers all stage, but now in the last 25 KM we see more and more teams contributing to the pace setting.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot6_zps5c32d3b3.jpg
Stevenson summits the final climb with 10 KM to go.

Baring strange circumstances i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Stevenson will win the KOM comp here thanks to summiting all climbs first today. He just holds off the peloton on the final climb, but would soon be caught. A sprint is on the cards.

A few riders have been tailed of the rear of the large peloton, including race leader Viktor Renäng. We will have a new race leader come the end of the stage.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot7_zpsab28d10d.jpg
250 meters to go.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.pngCano
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.pngGuilleni439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.pngCerny
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.pngAverini439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.pngPeeters
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ano.pngFirsanovi439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.pngAistrup

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot8_zpsf3b89a61.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen leads but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Averin, showing good form, is hot on his heels.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot9_zps0ac7d1e4.jpg
100 meters to go.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Averin takes the lead.

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot10_zps907e9a87.jpg

From here the win looks in the bag ....

i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag411/ramblingman92/slot11_zps9f3e09f2.jpg

But i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/eub.png Jeannesson finishes like a rocket to claim a dramatic late win in a mix up of sprinters, who struggle to climb, and the GC men which makes for some strange results.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Averin finishes second and moves in the race lead and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Aistrup rounds out his team's good day with a podium.
