And today we continue with a new invention in Malaysia: Hills. Not real puncher hills, but more like a really small mountain.
Todays favourites are Pluchkin (B&O), Van Huffel and Rodrigues (both LMP). But I predict we will see a Nippo rider win today.
Today's first sprint was contested by the main sprinters after a breakaway failed to get ground. Anuawar takes the 6 points ahead of Breschel and Huff.
Shortly after the second sprint (a sprint which Andre Griepel won in front of Roulston and Tuft), a proper breakaway forms. Griepel (VRB), Roulston (IBB), Tuft (DHS), Moussavou (NIB), Dowsett (PBC) and Frischkorn (TSL).
Last sprint today: Dowsett 1st, Griepel 2nd, Roulston 3rd.
The break now have 94kms to go and a 8 minute lead.
63kms to go and its the return of the overly expensive gas station!
The lead is now 6'32" by the way.
51kms to go and Kiserlovski is off to do a badly timed attack. He is caught a mere 4kms later. The team chasing is LA/MSS/Pearl Jam
38kms to go: Dowsett fails at 0.4% gradient. Cant keep pace with breakaway.
Worth noting is that the breakaway is still holding a 5 minute lead.
32kms to go: Moussavou cant keep up either. The distance between E1 and P is still a commanding 4'45"
16kms to go: Frischkorn attacks and gets a crucial gap to the rest.
5.5kms left. The breakaway will win today. But will Frischkorn stay ahead of the three others?
3kms left. Its sooo clooooooose.
1000 meters: Hollywood couldnt make this more exiciting!
450 meters: Any last second surprise?
Inches: Will Frischkorn does it! He soloes the last 10 miles and takes the stage and KoM!
Frischkorn took 20 points on the hill and that makes him the new lady in red around here.
U-25: Breschel is now leading after inching out Keisse with 2 seconds
Teams: Slipstream is leading ahead of Virgin Media B.
