Pan flat as usual here. Yesterday we got a 4th sprint winner:
Guillen
Meyer
Awang
Vingerling
Will one of those take the 8th stage or will we see another winner?
Only 2 breakaway riders early on, which means a chance for the sprinters to get more points as the point ranking is more or less the most exciting competition left here next to the stage wins.
Manfredi again who was part of yesterdays group and Rusli, 2nd on Genting Highlands! Also the rider, the crows is hoping for as he is one of just a few Malaysian riders in professional cycling.
What a fight for the 3rd spot at the sprint! No less than 5 riders battle it out with Guillen proving to be the strongest ahead of Vingerling, Meyer, Forero and Manarelli.
Ouch. Rusli hits the ground. That`s very unfortunate for him. But it took him 7km to make it back. So we still have a group of 2.
95km and only 4min while Siam is controlling the peloton. So no sprinter team really or do they really think Uugunbayar can improve?
Next sprint and again Guillen the strongest to take 2 more points. The same order behind him even though Manarelli was not really going for it this time.
And he makes the hattrick. Also the third peloton sprint is won by Guillen. This time Awang surprisingly also interested to take the 5th of the peloton ahead of Manarelli.
Again a late catch. But it`s enough for the sprinters as the trains slowly come to the front.
The four usual trains are forming. Even though Guillen only has one Cano ahead. Also surprising to see that Awang struggles today and is not in a good position.
Rodriguez Parra Arango Stenuit Forero Eefting Richeze Cano Vingerling Haller Guillen Manarelli Vanderaerden Sinner Dall'Antonia Meyer Uugunbayar Opie Clavero Gajek
Cano though having a strong day and leading out Guillen perfectly going into the pole position with Sinner having the perfect wheel.
That said Eefting proved to be the best leadout here and also Arango is still ahead of Forero.
All top sprinters still with a leadout. But Vingerling surprisingly not behind Eefting and instead next to Arango.
1,2km to go and Vanderaerden coming strong with Meyer behind him.
Also Guillen in the wind now. Is this too early?
Vingerling behind Eefting again, so found a good position again with Manarelli behind him.
Guillen went too early. Looking better for Fletcher now with Vanderaerden in the lead ahead of Meyer.
Sinner, Opie, Richeze, Manarelli in the middle next while Forero behind them but still behind Arango.
The very top sprinters obviously a bit tired after the 3 sprints. So it`s much closer today. Vanderaerden, Manarelli and Sinner in the lead. But Meyer, Guillen, Opie and Richeze not beaten yet.
Forero also coming fast now. But probably too late.
Big win for Manarelli! So yet another stage winner here and the sprinters nicely share the stages here. And Forero still can`t win as he takes 2nd again.
Sinner with a strong 3rd with a good improvement from his previous sprints. Richeze as 4th ahead of a disappointing Meyer today.
Opie and Dall'Antonia also ahead of Vingerlin, Guillen and Vanderaerden.
Gajek and Awang just out of the top10 today.
