Tour de Langkawi - Stage 2
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0051.jpg

2nd stage in Malaysia and todays sprint stage might be the most difficult one with a Cat.1 climb at half time. Definitely the hardest climb next to the two mountain top finishes. That said the pace here shouldn`t be too high and a sprint stage is again expected.
Yesterdays winner i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen is the favourite for today but also the rest of the top5 obviously.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0052.jpg

No breakaway has formed yet to 100%.
But a few riders are ahead of the peloton and one of them winning the sprint here is yesterdays solo rider i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mlj.png Passeron. As 2nd in the GC and now down to 8s he is having a nice race so far.
2nd behind him i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/del.png Guozhang and with a bigger gap i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/eub.png Verona as 3rd.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0054.jpg

These three a bit later form the breakaway as the peloton is not interesting to catch them soon.
Verona actually was one of only two riders on stage 1 to lose contact in the end. So he is the only rider of those not being a huge GC danger.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0058.jpg

Once`s Herrada leads the peloton on the only climb today. Behind him most sprinter teams also with some riders working.
70km to go and a gap of ~3min.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0061.jpg

Vontobel probably a team without the biggest ambitions here. So it`s surprising to see them missing the first two breakaways. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vtb.png Flückiger attacking now on the climb at least something for the team.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0063.jpg

Passeron extending his KoM lead as he takes 16 big points here ahead of Verona and Guozhang.

As 7 riders are rewarded here 8 points go to the recent attacker Flückiger ahead of some helpers in Cancellara, Othman and Haller.

Some riders important for the sprint trains in the end are seen at the front already as the gap goes up to ~4min while Flückiger is caught again. Obviously only interested in the KoM points.
Those riders chasing are Cano or Haller.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0070.jpg

34km to go and the 2nd sprint is reached. The trio is almost caught as you can see but Passeron has reached his goal of taking more seconds being down to 2s now. Won`t be enough to take yellow though as he would have needed a stage win then.
Guozhang and Verona cross the line next.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0074.jpg

Fletcher Garneau taking control now with 4 riders at the front with Bell, McLay, Van Uden and Othman. Still 25km to go but probably they want to avoid more attacks as the breakaway is caught.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0077.jpg

With 4km though the situation is different as sprint trains are forming. Well. Actually only half a train is forming with GC rider Moreno leading out Vingerling!
Such a calm finale without a break ahead and still a bad sprint preparation.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png Moreno
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png Vingerling

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0082.jpg

1km later though the situation is totally different. That was quick.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0096.jpg

Vanderaerden again with a huge leadout bringing Meyer to the front. Dall'Antonia again with a good feeling for the right wheel behind him.
On the other side Stenuit still ahead of Vingerling and the rest.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0098.jpg

Look at that leadout. Vanderaerden passes the whole sprint field pulling Meyer with him.
But again an early sprint by him as he goes with 1,6km to go.
Then again also Vingerling and the others have to go early to close the gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0102.jpg

The Alpina train was a bit blocked behind and so Forero struggles today as he sits in 14th position only. Also Richeze behind him with bad luck.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0104.jpg

Meyer, Vanderaerden, Vingerling the top3 right now.
Behind Manarelli, Dall'Antonia, Awang and Guillen.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0108.jpg

Dall'Antonia struggles and losing contact now. Therefore Forero coming fast from behind.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0110.jpg

Today Meyer not really slowing down. He still has a good gap to Vingerling and another gap to hte others, where Manarelli seems to be strongest.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0112.jpg

Cameron Meyer takes stage 2 after a 1600m sprint and doing the "Sagan" dance.
Vingerling again 2nd but a bit closer to the win. Manarelli as 3rd with a nice result today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Langkawi/mg2014_langkawi_2_PCM0113.jpg

What a sprint by Forero. From a bad position he flies past most sprinters finishing as 4th. What if his position would have been a bit better today? Probably using a mountain goat like Zurita as leadout wasn`t the smartest idea.
Guillen, Awang, Arango, Vanderaerden next ahead of Dall'Antonia and Richeze to complete the top10.

New GC leader is todays winner Meyer ahead of Guillen within the same time. And we must mention Passeron. He still is in a great position as 3rd as he was able to keep contact different to the other two breakaway riders.
