Hi all, welcome to the biggesst race in Denmark, today is a day for the sprinters, although the uphill finish may cause some interest.
Kennaugh, Ciolek and Hushovd are the favourites for the stage, and Hushovd in particular will be looking for bonus seconds before the time trial
Off we go
Aistup goes on a solo break today
This means we have competition in the peleton for the sprint points, Napolitanio beating Ciolek to second at the first one
Napolitano back that up with a second at the next sprint as well, Kluge getting third this time
50km to go, and with Aistrup only 2 minutes ahead 5 riders break the shackles of the peleton: Cummings, D'Amore, Holloway, Thomas and Kuchinski
Chavanel goes after them
10km later all apart from Thomas and Chavanel catch Aistrup, the peleton is 90 seconds in arrears
As we hit the finishing climb for the first time Holloway wins ahead of Kuchinski and Cummings, the peleton is close now, although these slopes, which hit 15% will surely do in some of the sprinters
Impey clearly likes what he sees as Yamaha move forwards en mass
29km to go and we are as one
Nepomnyachsniy takes the final mountain points just beating Maaskant and Sambris
5km to go and the sprinters are no where to be seen, Kennaugh looks best placed in about 15th
As the sprint starts Vorganov is in front, bit part sprinters are next: Smukulis, Ladagnous and Van Impe, followed by Kennaugh, Dummoulin and Priamo who are all quick, but can they climb
1km to go and as the road kicks up Van Impe moves into the lead
Dumoulin and Kennaugh are right alongside this is very tight
Kennaugh moves forwards as the gradients start to tell
And he takes victory, Pokerstars get second and third with Dumoulin and Van Impe, before Ladagnous and Smukulis are next
