Theres a KoM hill early on in the race. Balck attacked first in the stage, he gets the points. Bagdonas is 2nd, with Wallays edging out Rast for 3rd

Balck and Bagdonas join together but are nearly caught out by upcoming attackers at the next climb. El Al's Shapira only takes 2nd though, as Bagdonas takes the points this time

Telenor's Te Brake also briefly made it up to the group, but lost ground at the first intermediate sprint, which Bagdonas won

Bagdonas also took the 2nd sprint, while Te Brake dropped back to the chase group of Bobridge (Petronas), Locatelli (Wiggle) and Margolit (El Al).

The final climb is very steep, and sees the 2nd break group comes back towards the lead group. In the battle for the KoM jersey, Balck just edges Bagdonas

Bobridge was the only one to make the junction to the lead group, but could not beat Bagdonas at the final intermediate sprint of the day

The break lasts only until 20km to go though, and they are caught

And so the first bunch sprint of the year. There was a promising sprint train building up with Sinner leading Haedo and Kennaugh, but the Frenchman found himself unable to get to the front. Kennaugh gave up on it and tried to get further forward, but as the sprint begins it is all to play for, Klier leads

But Klier cant sprint, so back he goes, as British champion Jonathan Bellis hits the front

Sadly for Bellis, a sprinter has made it to the front - UBS's Maximilliano Richeze

Into the final kilometre, Richeze takes the lead

Cillit Bang sweep the rest of the ranking point positions, with Bellis 2nd, Eichler 3rd, and Ben Nasser 4th. They also have Kopp 7th - with Bertagnolli and Flugel in between

Richeze is the first race leader, and having held on to the pack, 3 sprint wins means Bagdonas is 2nd - at just 2 seconds.
