The rain is back for the decisive stage in De Panne, a 14 kilometers time - trial. The main battle of the day is the one for the yellow jersey between Hushovd and Blythe there should be some interesting ones for the other spots in the top 10 as well
Ben Day was the first rider to come with a good result at the finishing, riding the 14 kilometers in 19 minutes and 44 seconds
But his time was history after Stannard's finish. The 100% Me rider became the provisional leader, being 17 seconds faster than Day
Anothe Highroad rider which had a good ride was Ghyselinck, who took a provisional second place 11 seconds behind Stannard
Thomas De Gendt had an amazing rider beating Stannard's time by 5 seconds and the Milka rider became the new leader of the stage
Roger Kluge was just one second behind De Gendt at the intermediate check but he was faster than the Belgian on the second half of the stage and took the lead for one second at the finish
Leif Hoste was looking really good after the first stage but then he had a very disappointing ride. Today we didn't see a big change as he finished 8 seconds behind Kluge
At the intermediate checkpoint Hushovd was already 21 seconds faster than Blythe and with only 11 seconds left between them for the last 8 kilometers it was clear that it's going to be very close
Hushovd finished the stage 4 seconds slower than Kluge but the main question was if that was enough to win the overall in front of Blythe
Blythe did his best today but being 38 seconds slower than Hushovd at the finish means that the Brit lost the overall win for 6 seconds. And it's Thor Hushovd who wins this year's De Panne Tour!
