The final stage, and after Stage 3, it is looking an increasingly tall order for anyone to stop Domenico Pozzovivvo from winning this race.
The podium pattern behind him is very close though, between Taaramae, Alarcon, Popovych, Kritskiy and Kiserlovski.
The race to Passo Pordoi is probably the 'easiest' of the 3 mountain stages, its just a long day of gradual climbing until the kick up to the summit finish at the end of it.
There's a nice view for the break of 8 as they build a lead early in the stage.
Gottfried
Penasa
Montenegro
Ospina
Taciak
Ludvigsson
Kinoshita
Chaabane
Penasa won the intermediate sprint, and the break has a good 6 minutes lead with 22km to go. Is it enough? Hard to say - probably not if the peloton really race up to the finish.
And it looks like they will, as Taaramae launches an attack!
We're still barely climbing, so getting away won't be easy. Alarcon and Abal cross to the Estonian after Kritskiy and Caruso were unable to.
Caruso tries again, along with Vrecer, Ardila, Der and Lovkvfist.
But with Vespa going strong, and the gradient just 2/3% theyre just wasting energy here it seems.
No gaps yet, so Alarcon tries again.
Taaramae and surprisingly, Silva, join him - and this time they do have a small gap.
Up front, the break are into the final 10km and have found the steep gradient. Montenegro and Penasa have a small gap.
Taaramae, Alarcon and Silva are chased down. Kiserlovski and Lovkvist try, and get nowhere, so Taaramae gives it another go.
Alarcon goes with him again, but despite being two of the best climbers in the whole division, they seem frustratingly unable to get a gap. Vespa are down to just Pozzovivvo and Cataldo, but that is enough for them to still control the situation.
Taaramae and Alarcon's efforts last for 2km, but never really gets anywhere. Upon capture, Popovych and this time Pozzovivvo make a move.
Once again, nobody goes clear. 4.5km to go and the break still hold a 1'40 lead - Montenegro and Penasa are back with the rest of the group now, after their earlier efforts were chased down. Montenegro remains the most likely winner if they do make it though - being the best climber in there.
Caruso and Abal now try to get away.
And now Montenegro makes a solo strike for home from the breakaway.
Abal and Caruso are still trying to get somewhere, joined by Popovych
Lovkvist leads the next move - Taaramae yet again, and Pozzovivvo.
Not only is nobody getting away, but nobody is getting dropped either. The stage win seems very likely though as they catch the majority of the breakaway - Montenegro remains clear by just 30 seconds.
They seem to block in Pozzovivvo and Taaramae by where they are in the road - not that those two seemed likely to get a gap - and this opens things up on the other side of the road as Hollister surge forwards with both Rodrigues and Kiserlovski.
Scarponi goes with them, as Alarcon tries, but can't seem to keep up. Bintang's hopes lie with Montenegro then, but his gap is ever reducing.
Hollister lead the rankings already and this well timed move could see them extend that with Kiserlovski looking to take 2nd overall here. Rogrigues gives him a strong leadout into the final kilometre, and this time a gap has finally formed.
Kiserlovski makes his move past Rodrigues but remarkably Scarponi is keeping up with him. Montenegro barely clear now.
And its a very large peloton sprint behind. Some of the best climbers have really disappointed here. Unable to get a gap, and now even a good stage position is slipping away from them.
Into the lead goes Kiserlovski.
And the Croatian champion wins the stage. Just an extra 5 second time gap is needed on Kritskiy for 2nd overall, and that is certain to happen now.
Scrarponi just edges out Montenegro for 2nd - that ride for the CT rider will see him leap up into the GC Top 10.
Pozzovivvo finishes strongly to seal his GC triumph with 4th on the stage. It also gives him just enough points to surpass Meiji's Signorini in the King of the Mountains competition. He also win the Points competition.
Pellizotti takes 6th ahead of Popovych and Taaramae. That Bintang rider with them is Krasnoperov - Alarcon was nowhere at the end.
They finish 33 seconds behind Kiserlovski, and with such a large group on the same time, that means Taaramae and Popovych will both miss the podium - Kritskiy taking 3rd despite a quite anonymous climb today.
Only 6th for Alarcon while today's final kilometre saw Rodrigues and Scarponi go up to 7th and 8th, with Abal a poor 9th, and Zsolt Der a very surprising 10th!
If it is any consolation for Alarcon, he is the best young rider by some way, while Vespa are the best team.
