The stage seems perfect for a breakaway, starting with a very difficult climb but no difficulties in the last half, which shouldn't make any differences between the favorites. This means that Serpa will most likely start the last stage with the yellow jersey on his shoulders

There were a lot of attacks on the first climb of the day, everyone wanting to breakaway. But the best one was made by Caruso, halfway through

No nobody was able to take the Italian's wheel and he was first at the top of the climb

He was followed at 50 seconds by a group of 3 riders: Wyss, Zahner and Pineau

But only Wyss was able to join him in the lead on the downhill, while the other 2 lost time there

Wyss was first on the second and last categorized climb of the day. Pineau and Zahner were more than 2 minutes behind them at that point

No team seemed really interested in catching the breakaway and the lead duo had a maximum advantage of almost 9 minutes.

In the second half, Bacardi and Pirelli started to work harder though as Caruso was only 5 minutes and 45 seconds behind Serpa in the GC and he had also win some bonification seconds at the intermediate sprint

15 kilometers before the finish, the pack caught the other 2 escapes but Caruso and Wyss still had a lead of 4 minutes and a half. The good news for the Pirelli riders though was that Serpa won't lose the yellow jersey

In the last kilometers of the stage it was clear for Wyss and Caruso that the pack won't catch them and the psychological games started between them

But when the sprint started at the 1 kilometer banner, Caruso powered away from the Swiss rider, giving him no chance to come back

Two breakaways in three days and a stage win for Caruso is definitely not a bad achievement for him

The pack, led by Bernucci, came at 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Ricco finished third in the pack's sprint and he is now leading the points rankings, having scored the same amount of points as Caruso, who also sneaked into the overall top 10 with the time won today
