Giro del Trentino - Stage 1
alexkr00
The opening time - trial in Trentino is longer than an usual prologue and some important time gaps could be made between the favorites for the general classification, with Abal and Taaramae looking to gain some time over the others

Last year's winner, Rinaldo Nocentini, was one of the early starters. He finished with the time of 22 minutes and 16 seconds

Bbox' Sascha Damrow had no problems beating that time and he took the lead with 21 minutes and 40 seconds

Jose Serpa had a really good ride which definitely keeps him in the race for the GC win. He lost only 3 seconds to Damrow

UniCredit's main hope in this race, Sergio Ortega, also had a good ride and he was only 1 second slower than Damrow

Damrow lost the lead after Javier Aramendia's finish. The Spanish was 11 seconds faster than the Bbox rider

But the Lego rider didn't enjoy his lead for too long, as his compatriot, David Abal, took it from him. Aramendia's frustration was probably quite big since Abal was less than one second faster than him

The main favorite in the mountains in this year's Giro del Trentino, Ricardo Ricco, had a decent start but he lost 37 seconds to David Abal

The Estonian Champion, Rein Taaramae, had a very good ride but at the finish line he was just 3 seconds slower than Abal

Meanwhile, Roulston and Mazur also had some good time, losing just 5 and 11 seconds. With not a lot of great time - trialists left to start the top 5 was looking like this: Abal; Aramendia, Taaramae, Roulston, Mazur.

One of UBS main riders for the race, Perez Sanchez lost 18 seconds to Abal. He was 11 seconds faster than his team - leader, Bernhard Kohl, though

The Yamaha leader, Cadel Evan, got a good start, finishing 19 seconds behind Abal
