The final stage, classified as hilly, for the Giro del Capo. Yes there are hills, but is the terrain really there to shake up the GC?



7 make the final break:

There were 20 KOM points on offer throughout the stage, however, no one in the break was a danger for Iglinski's polka dots.



Maloja Mountain Nomads are the main chasers with 56 KM to go and the break at 3'16.


Attacks out of the bunch.

With 40 KM to go and the break @ 2'00 we see two riders attack, they are: Fernandez and Meintjes.

It was nice to see some attacks out of the peloton, although they were quickly brought back.


Edmondson summits the final climb of the day with 25 KM to go.

It had been a anonymous stage race for Eddie Stobart Pro Cycling up until this stage. Edmondson would be the first to summit both climbs of the day, the 20 KOM points would move him into 3rd in the KOM comp.

With 25 KM to go the break have 1'30 over the peloton.


More attacks out of the peloton.

With 13 KM to go we see Fernandez, Jumbakov, Kolobnev and Malle attack out of the peloton. This move wouldn't last long.

With 10 KM to go the break have 1'09 over the peloton which is down to 73 riders.


Mendes attacks!

With 8 KM to go we see the yellow jersey Mendes attack, he is joined by Passalacqua. Once again the attacks quickly come to nothing.



With just a few kilometres to go it is looking good for the break. Edmondson is the first to play his hand by putting in a big attack.



Back in the peloton, the hardest terrain is over and everyone knows the break will contest the win today. This doesn't stop Cioban from putting in a late attack.


300 meters to go.

Edmondson leads after his attack blew the break to pieces. However, the stage win is not yet his. Stevenson is the most prominent chaser, but he alone does all the chasing. Zabalo is stuck to the Swede's wheel like a limpet.



Stage win Zabalo! The Grupo Nutresa rider takes the last stage win after Stevenson did all the chasing which meant Edmondson would be caught in the dying meters. Indonesian champ Pranata rounds out the podium as the break occupy positions 1-7 today.



Kolobnev and Marentes lead home the yellow jersey group @ '49. Marentes picks up 7 points which sees him finish level on points with Schachmann for the green jersey.

Mendes wins the Giro del Capo, ahead of, white jersey winner, Rosskopf and Iglinskiy, who also takes home the polka dots.
