The pack was altogether at the first KoM. Tom Diggle took the points ahead of Erik Hoffman and the Burkina Faso national champ (Riding for Wikipedia B).
A break of 14 riders then went clear
Svein Tuft went after the KoM points on the other 2 KoM of the day but he was carefully watched by the current KoM Niki Terpstra, also in the break, and the Dutchman did enough to keep the jersey
The 14 riders worked well together, apart from Duggan and Martin, who did not relay since Slipstream and Procycling were leading the chase. However, the chase was never particularly strong and the break would stay away comfortably.
Andre Greipel probably has the strongest sprint in the group, but he had to settle for 2nd as he was beaten to the line by Namibian Erik Hoffman
The now former race leader led home the peleton in 15th place, losing 4 minutes on the breakaway
Erik Mohs (3rd on Stage 1) abandoned the race through injury.
