A break went forward but Saunier Duval and Quick Step took advantage of the strong wins to split the pack many times. Many of those who crashed yesterday were often caught out, such as Dekker, Devolder, Cancellara, Boogerd, Piepoli and Gomez Marchante. Petacchi was even dropped at one point.

These groups all managed to come together eventually but those who were struggling still hung at the back. We got to see who was definately injured as they were dropped and they included Ciolek, Boogerd, and Bruseghin.

In the sprint, we were Aussie-less as Cooke had been followed by O'Grady, Corioni and Pollack and was near the front. Cooke then mysteriously dropped, slowly, towareds the back, and the 3 idiots behind him just let him do it and stayed on his wheel.

It looked like it would be a T-Mobile/Caisse dominated sprint, with Baumann ahead of Petacchi and Richeze, with Nazon behind him. Boonen was once again poorly positioned. Baumann led out Petacchi well and once Petacchi went, Richeze did not have the power to even hang on, Boonen came through but had too much work to do while Richeze faded but managed to cling on to 3rd, ahead of Nazon. Incase you havent already guessed, the winner was:

While Petacchi crossed the line Knaven and Khatuntsev went down at the back, with many big names still behind them. Cancellara, Dekker, Hincapie, Julich, Gomez Marchante and Devolder avoided but the likes of Piepoli, Flecha, Gadret, and Mcgee went down (Bos too). Because of so many little crashes, riders kept crossing the line to come inside the time gap, meaning Boogerd - who should have lost 3 minutes, lost nothing as people were still rolling across the line when he finished!
