Hello, and welcome to the 2008 edition of the Dauphine Libere! We've had a short break after the Giro, but now we're back at full power with the first warm up race for Tour de France.
This year's edition includes a couple of flat / hilly stages, before we are going up the Mont Vetoux in a mountain time trial. After that, the riders still have to get through two mountain stage, so it's definitely going to be a tough challenge.

The first stage, however, is a short, but hilly, prologue. And in fact, there's not much to say about it. Kirchen took off and got a comfortable lead, but early in the race, it was David Zabriskie who took the lead - and he's not just some random walk-over guy.

The only guy who actually had a chance of beating him was the former ITT World Champion, Fabian Cancellara. at the check point he managed to get a 2nd place, just 1 second behind. Unfortunately for Cancellera he wasn't able to "catch" that second, and instead it was Zabriskie who took the win on today's stage.
