When the Giro ended a stage in Briancon, Piepoli was the winner. He is not racing in the Dauphine, so perhaps the man who came 2nd on that stage, Cunego, will look to win today.
Unfortunately, I wasnt really paying attention to the stage and the replay didnt save, so bear with me
Bert Grabsch and a couple of crappy continentals made the breakaway, they were caught, and before the Col de L'Izorad, Samuel Sanchez attacked and a few other guys went with him.
Going up the climb, there was an elite bunch of 22, and Moreau led them over the top.
If you look closely, youll see that theres a slight gap between Dekker in Blue and Ricco in the polkadots, that is crucial as Ricco is a poor descender, and the 6 riders inbetween Moreau and Ricco got a stage-winning gap. Unfortunately for Moreau he had gone to the back of the 22 for finishing his relay.
There was a crach going into the finish:
Leipheimer, Ricco, Contador, Camano and Gadret were among those who went down.
Gutierrez Catalana won the sprint:

Unfortunately we were denied an exciting finish of 22 riders by Ricco's poor concentration and descending skills, as a slight gap came and allowed 6 rider to go free. The crash was exciting though!
Tomorrow: the queen stage. Lots and lots of climbs, and a mountain top finish I believe.
