Another beautiful day to ride a bike, another expected mass sprint. Will Drapac be able to keep his jersey?

At least it doesn't look to be taken by a break. There was not a lot of fighting to be in it with the massive firepower of the sprinter teams, so again only three riders try their luck.

The first KoM sprint comes fast and goes to i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Senni ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Bajadali who looks to add to his points gained yesterday and thus is the huge favourite to take the jersey today, and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Smit gives the PCT team more TV time.
Cat.4 i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Senni i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Bajadali i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Smit

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0001_zps84732857.jpg

The intermediate sprint soon after gives us the same result.
Sprint i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Senni i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Bajadali i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Smit

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0002_zps3afe26dd.jpg

We see the same teams share the lead as yesterday, with the race leader saving resources for later on for now. The gap reaches its maximum at 5 minutes.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0003_zpsdbc1471b.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Bajadali takes revenge for his second places so far and takes the second sprint. Who knows how many minor placings will be settled with those small bonus seconds in this race?
Sprint i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Bajadali i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Smit i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Senni

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0004_zps7fe8baf1.jpg

The American makes sure to get a decent lead in the KoM standings by taking the final KoM points. The gap is down to two minutes though, so that will be mostly it for today's break.
Cat. 4 i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Bajadali i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Senni i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Smit

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0005_zps88c1b30b.jpg

Subsequently, the catch is made before the 10k banner.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0006_zps7e57574b.jpg

The trains set themselves up in the run-in with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Azteca taking the early lead here.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0008_zpsb7f31597.jpg

We get a clearer overhead shot moments later to sort out who's where.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0010_zps788d879a.jpg

The sprint is about to set off and we are nearly level at the front. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Rowe managed to catch his own train while the ones of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Guillen and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Drapac are one guy down by now.
Remember that didn't mean a thing yesterday though!

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0012_zpsabc3383a.jpg

And indeed i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Hawkins does the best job between 3k and 2k to go, but has to drop off his leader early again.
At least he swerved into the middle of the road, making spaces tight for the others behind.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0013_zpsd68b14f5.jpg

The banner is yet to be reached and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Haedo does a good job for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Farrar who now is the only one left in the slipstream of a team mate (i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Meenhorst is still in front of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Rowe, but slightly offset to the left and thus not an actual help here).
That alone doesn't win you a thing though and actually i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Rasmussen looks in the best position for now.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0014_zpsa12d133c.jpg

Only triple digits left now and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Drapac proves to be too strong for everyone but the Dane, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Farrar sticking his nose into fresh air now.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0015_zpse99e7323.jpg

The Azteca rider does overtake his leadout, but that doesn't mean he gains ground on anyone on the left side. The one rider doing so though is indeed i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Rasmussen!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Drapac starts to fade hard as i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Matthews is right up his front wheel and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Rowe looks good too.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0016_zpsd679d640.jpg

And i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Rasmussen manages to upset the favourites! Brilliant positioning and great legs to stay with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Drapac right when it matters were the main factors.
Behind, a surprise late surge from i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Farrar does give the home team something to cheer for, and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Rowe does the same albeit falling just short of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Matthews to join the podium champagne.
A mainly invisible i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bon.png Maranelli was fastest in the end but couldn't quite overcome his positioning deficit.

i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0017_zps53eb725b.jpg
i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s408/Cio1993/Juarez/Stage%202/PCM0018_zpsb5ab6285.jpg

We end up with a three-way tie in the GC today, and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Matthews takes the jersey on consistency rather than winning.
