He's been rubbish - he should really have been challenging for the podiums, 6th isn't good enough for a rider of his calibre.
+ Team Barloworld - Hunter's been great in the sprints, and Soler was brilliant
+ Millar taking the KOM jersey in Britain
- Doping

Contador - simply did not expect it. but as every young rider in every sport that has his breakout season, the season after (2008 in his case) is the real test for him. can he keep it up now that everyone is keeping an eye on him?
Evans - a warrior, simply. and a good attitude. will get his chance next year
Sastre - fourth overall with an injured knee? this guy is superman
Zubeldia - consistency, consistency, consistency
Kirchen - see Zubeldia
Popovych - hopefully this was the final nail in the coffin and he's finally realised he's no stage racer. great fighting spirit. he'd never shown that before.
Astarloza - changing to a new environment can do wonders. and he is the proof.
Soler - very surprising. is there any more I can say?
Boogerd - briliant on the climbs? yes. surprising? no. people forget he was once top5 in the Tour. and as usual, no reward to show for his work.
Gutierrez - once AGAIN showing he's a very consistent and all-round rider. 22nd overall!
Millar - hard work and determination. too bad it didn't pay off with a stage win.
Hunter - another surprise. didn't really count on him for the sprints. but then again, there weren't many sprinters left.
Vansevenant - well done. good work along withe Vansummeren, plus his second lanterne rouge in a row. his mother must be so proud
-
Leipheimer - last year he peaked too early...this year too late...
Valverde - sure, he always fades badly in the second half of a three-week race. but it's usually gradual. this was very sudden and strange.
Mayo - once again proving he is mentally weak. one setback and he sinks like a stone.
De La Fuente - what happened? going so well...and then disappears off the face of the planet...
Lökvist - where was he? he wasn't even good in the time trials. he rode for himself and still finished level with Paulinho who had to work on the front alone for 120km twice. Thomas is going nowhere at this rate.
Casar - lucky for him he's a good sprinter...otherwise I'd just write "see Lökvist".
Bennati - sure, he was injured at first. but then he recovered and STILL couldn't compete in the sprints.
Cardénas - and he's supposed to be a climber?
Eisel - yes, he was at the Tour. no, he didn't retire.
Gerolsteiner and Bouyges teams - nothing. simply nothing to show. sure, ...if you're going to the Tour, you'd better do something at least slightly relevant.
All in All, not nearly as many disappointments as at the Giro.

+ Discovery : What a comeback after last year...something different eh? And Popo ..bravo.
- Sprinters and injures...we didnt see a lto 100% fun sprint finishes.
- Bennati and Gerolst. sprinters. I was expecting much more.. Gerolsteiner..in mountains..arrhh
+ Boonen..he did what he promised in early season..this year he will finish TdF and good if he had green also. You can tell now one has left...so what in history books he is in.
+ Boogie, Dekker, Menchov..what a train in mountains.
+ Kirchen
+ Evans best fighter...he beats all the boys in that category.
- Crashes..I now this part of TdF and nerves peloton. Still anoying.
+ Tour emotions...Gerdeman stage win etc.
- Rogers.I 'm sry. for him...I'd liked to see where he had been when tour is over.
? Soler.
+ Barloword..they deserved invatation.

I'll do one for the brits - from a British perspective.
+ Bradley Wiggins - 4th in the Prologue, 5th in the Albi TT, and that heroic long solo breakaway. Unlucky to have Moreni as a teammate.
+ David Millar - Worked hard for the team, even when Mayo did shit. Got into 3 breaks, and early KoM leader. Unlucky to be thwarted by bad tyres yesterday.
+ Geraint Thomas - Youngest rider in the race, managed to drag himself through the mountains. Eventook 15th in a sprint finish.
+ Charlie Wegelius - Having worked hard for the team in the Giro and worked for Beltran in the tour. Crashed in the Rogers crash stage, and finished in the grupetto - yet still managed 45th overall (His best overall finish in a GT)
- Mark Cavendish - Yes he crashed and punctured but he was poor in the sprints that he did contest. Unlike Geraint, he wimped out after the first mountain stage.
- Commentary on ITV4 - The amount of times Phil Ligget and Paul Sherwen got muddled or confused and said said the wrong thing! They aslo have a tendency for Sherwen to say something, and Ligget to then say practically the same thing, straight after him!

Yes disaster in stage 2 and 3. He was not ready for TdF yet. Before every new tour I wait to new sprinter star to rise (new climber to shine is much easyer)..but always result is same.."old fishes" to their job. Sprint has lot decided with experience also. |

+ Geraint - has to go 1st on my list, 21year old riding the tour for the 1st time and he completes it without coming last, he fought his way over the mountains in great style.
+ Millar - great performances in the mountians, even cracked his own leader, also not bad in the TT, KOM jersey was nice for him, his attacking mentality was superb (is superb, he will attack in Paris today), pity no stage win
+ Wiggins - great performances in the 2 TT's he competed in the best TT's of his life probably, but still didn't win, very unfortunate not to complete the Tour because of that stupid Italian guy
+ Wegelius - just come off the back of a hard Giro, and not an all bad performance working for Beltran and Pipo, again pity no stage win
+ Barloworld in general - i know i put Geraint seperate but he's British, Hunter and Soler were fantastic, especially Hunter in the sprints, still in contention for the green jersey, the whole team did very well, and thoroughly deserved they're wildcard and probably a place in the ProTour as Bouygues are crap. btw Soler is really elegant on his bike
+ Rasmussen - i know he is now suspended but for being in italy without telling people, there is no proof so far so he's in, he was fantastic up the climbs and his TT was pretty good, was very good with the yellow jersey.
+ Conta - young, explosive (pretty much it)
+ the Rabo team - Boogie was fantastic, Dekker was fantastic Menchov was ok, but they worked very hard for chicken and did a very good job
+ Popovych - great fighter, great determination
+ Levi - was still up there in the last week, maybe too late as others have said but a podium is thoroughly deserved
- Cav - maybe a bit of bad luck involved with so many crashes, but showed that he was definatley at his peak early in the year, and completley usless over the mountains, at this point in time
- Bouygues
- Hushovd - he did finish yet was non existent (4th last) and nowhere in the sprints
- Bradley Wiggins' haircut - i mean come one!
