Stage 4: Montpellier - Montpellier, 38km, Team Time Trial
Against the clock test will favour strong teams

The team time-trial is back in the Tour de France, but with one major change: real time will count over the 38 kilometre course. Unlike the last team time trials in 2004 and 2005, where time losses were determined by each squad's placing, the time recorded on the line will be the deciding factor.

Montpellier has often hosted the Tour because of its location halfway between the Alps and Pyrenees. In 1930, Charles Pélissier won the fourth of his eight stage victories in the town, a record still standing today. Since then, Montpellier has witnessed many sprints, including those won by Robbie McEwen in 2005 and Robert Hunter in 2007. The start line for the race against the clock will be the magnificent Place de la Comédie.

Yes.

I wonder how Columbia and Saxo will do, after all their hard work in the first two stages. I think Astana will win it.

Garmin has good chances. They have held back up until now.

Yes.

I'm interested to see the odds in this one.

Obviously the top 4 will be Cancellera, Martin, Armstrong and Wiggins in terms of odds, then a big drop to Evans, Kreuziger and Gerdemann... but who after that?

Someone like Contador who would need their teammate to fall to get a shot? Hard to say if that's more likely then Euskatel taking back 1.5 minutes on Saxo-Bank.

I realy hope that Martin or why not Cancellara will be in yellow after that stage. But Lance is clearly after a yellow again..has he started this in Giro..he was after a pink..Just for wear that jersey..at least for a day. Same here.

Well, 2 people in front of you mentioned Garmin...so not everybody.

I would put it this way:
1st - Astana 2nd - SaxoBank 3rd - Garmin

However Garmin has had no fatigue comparing to Astana and the comparison to SaxoBank is even greater so then can really pull it off!

Unfortunately it'll probably be won by Astana I guess...

This isn't PCM: a Team Time Trial is about having good prologue riders, not good time triallists Wink

Saxo Bank and especially Astana are not in Columbia's league.

That said, the energy that Columbia used up today may cost them. If today's stage had been quiet, Columbia would win easily by a mile tomorrow.

I really don't think Saxo-guys can beat TTT specialists Garmin Wink

Well, the odds led me from going with Lance to going with Martin. Despite the effort Columbia put in today, I think they have a team built for the TTT more then Astana, and will finish ahead of them.

I'd like the storyline if Lance took yellow... but I don't see it.

1. Garmin
2. Columbia (but very close)
3. Astana

I think Columbia's work today gets them the yellow tomorrow (rathern then Wiggins getting it).
