Torshavn GP (C1) - Preview
Welcome to the Faroe Islands for the sprinter classic Torshavn GP! Although rated flat, and with the four previous editions won by fast riders, it's not pure flat as you can see in the profile below. Former winners Luke Rowe and Marko Kump have shown us being a versatile rouleur/puncheur can also mean you do well here. Let's take a closer look at the profile.
Same lap all day, same hill all day. If this one goes to a sprinter, it should be one out of the list below.
Nat. | Name | FL | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | | Ewan Caleb | 75 | 71 | 73 | 71 | 83 | 81 | | Ahlstrand Jonas | 72 | 65 | 71 | 70 | 81 | 79 | | Zariff Nur Aiman | 70 | 61 | 71 | 67 | 80 | 80 | | Aniolkowski Stanislaw | 76 | 66 | 76 | 74 | 80 | 79 | | Walscheid Maximilian | 73 | 63 | 71 | 74 | 79 | 79 | | Willwohl Willi | 73 | 65 | 71 | 67 | 79 | 78 | | Adomaitis Rojus | 75 | 67 | 66 | 74 | 79 | 78 | | Kamberaj Xhuliano | 75 | 69 | 73 | 73 | 79 | 78 | | Contreras Emiliano | 72 | 68 | 73 | 75 | 78 | 80 | | Kulikovskiy Alexandr | 73 | 71 | 70 | 73 | 78 | 79 | | El Sabbahi Houcaine | 77 | 69 | 72 | 76 | 78 | 77 | | Mareczko Jakub | 74 | 61 | 71 | 73 | 78 | 77 | | Jimenez Retana John | 71 | 65 | 69 | 68 | 77 | 79 | | Feiereisen Kevin | 74 | 68 | 73 | 68 | 77 | 78 | | Tivani German Nicolas | 70 | 67 | 68 | 78 | 77 | 78 |
Ewan clearly the favourite here, not only best sprinter by far but also with a good punch in him. Of the three 80-average sprinters below him it's Aniolkowski who stands out as also a good rouleur and with stronger physical capacities. Ahlstrand and Zariff a bit weaker in the hills and not the strongest riders in general, but they'll be happy to try and prove me wrong about not being top favourites with a good result.
Of the remaining sprinters in the list, Kamberaj, Kulikovskiy and El Sabbahi are those combining a decent punch and alright physical capacities.
When speaking about punching and looking at the profile, we have to take a look at the puncheurs present as well. You never know.
Nat. | Name | FL | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | | Waeytens Zico | 69 | 79 | 70 | 68 | 65 | 71 | | Watson Calvin | 70 | 78 | 76 | 72 | 62 | 72 | | Meurisse Xandro | 73 | 77 | 74 | 74 | 71 | 78 | | Gladysh Roman | 72 | 77 | 73 | 72 | 71 | 76 | | Nikiema Bachirou | 69 | 77 | 72 | 74 | 70 | 76 | | Grossschartner Felix | 67 | 77 | 72 | 73 | 62 | 72 | | Bratashcuk Andrii | 69 | 77 | 75 | 70 | 62 | 67 | | McCormick Hayden | 70 | 76 | 74 | 71 | 73 | 73 | | Ludvigsson Fredrik | 67 | 76 | 74 | 70 | 67 | 76 | | Hofstede Lennard | 70 | 76 | 73 | 71 | 61 | 74 | | Lienhard Fabian | 73 | 75 | 77 | 72 | 73 | 76 | | Groselj Ziga | 69 | 75 | 72 | 73 | 72 | 72 | | Soulious Zisis | 69 | 75 | 76 | 75 | 71 | 78 |
Cervelo wouldn't mind puncheurs being succesful, as they are here with Waeytens, Watson and also the faster McCormick. Meurisse is perhaps Specialized's biggest card to play with his good punch combined with being fast enough at the finish line. Popo and Simba have similar riders in Gladysh and Nikiema, but with top-5 sprinters here these riders might be reduced to domestiques. Of the remaining puncheurs Lienhard and Soulious are also not slow at the finish line, hoping to score for JEWA and ELCO.
Since the race is rated flat and the hill is also not the hardest ever, rouleurs can also do well here with a (late) attack. Let's see who the strongest rouleurs are.
Nat. | Name | FL | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | | Suter Joel | 79 | 71 | 75 | 74 | 68 | 74 | | Boutopoulos Georgios | 78 | 72 | 73 | 75 | 73 | 78 | | Andersen Idar | 78 | 70 | 70 | 75 | 68 | 69 | | Mundle Benedikt | 78 | 64 | 67 | 71 | 58 | 67 | | Sagiv Guy | 77 | 73 | 73 | 71 | 72 | 72 | | El Sabbahi Houcaine | 77 | 69 | 72 | 76 | 78 | 77 | | Dzamastagic Mark | 77 | 69 | 74 | 70 | 75 | 76 | | Mraouni Salah Eddine | 77 | 69 | 71 | 72 | 71 | 74 | | Kortsidakis Michail | 77 | 69 | 75 | 75 | 68 | 72 | | Wohler Alex | 77 | 66 | 72 | 71 | 71 | 72 | | Yzeiraj Marildo | 77 | 66 | 74 | 74 | 62 | 71 | | Biermans Jenthe | 77 | 61 | 71 | 74 | 66 | 67 | | Tarvis Peeter | 76 | 74 | 74 | 73 | 64 | 72 | | Kasperkiewicz Przemyslaw | 76 | 74 | 75 | 77 | 59 | 67 |
Suter seems like a very interesting name for this race at first flance, strong on the flat and no problem to conquer a hill either. Same can be said for Boutopoulos and Andersen, with the Greek also having quite a decent sprint. Tarvis is also an interesting all-rounder for sure, and the same must be said about top cobbler Kasperkiewicz. No cobbles tomorrow, but with his skillset he might just still score some nice points as well.
Good luck to all, startlist in spoiler below.

Hoping Kuli can use his hills capability to perform above his stats. Expecting a chaotic race for sure!
Thanks for the preview Nemo

Hoping Suter will once deliver with all people hyping him up as the perfect man for a late attack
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

If Adomaitis can squeeze a top 10, that'd be quite dope

Ewan
Not sure what to expect from the team in this race. We've brought a sprinter, a puncheurs, and a rouleur, but I fear they will all work for Zariff who might not make it to the sprint.
Thanks for the preview.

It's cold on the Faroe Islands so that might help Ahlstrand

In terms of expectations we have none - but we have dreams of a solid result. We need the race to be extremely hard for us to have a shot though. Besides those mentioned, Koumpetsos and even Niu could also be a bet if the stage is too hard for the sprinters.

We always enjoy a little trip to Thorshavn, even though we're not here with our best men unfortunately.
Good luck to everyone and thank you Nemo for the great preview! |

Don't think I came to Torshavn this year so not sure how things will go. I think this could be a breakaway day... but if it goes to a sprint, I think Tivani could get a decent result here as well.
Really hoping this doesn't go to the puncheurs. Awesome preview!

The one and Onley! I would have taken El Sabbahi's 5th place here on its own as that was as much as I could expect in this sprinters field. But a beautifully executed breakaway by our boys gives Onley his first victory in his maiden season. Couldn't be more proud of my boy Oscar.
Thanks for the report!

Happy with a top 10 for Zariff
Guess the guys just needed a bit of motivation from their manager, which came in the form of a small rant. Anyway, I hope we can re-join the fight for promotion, but it will take a few more decent performances.
Congrats to Benetton with the win.

Congrats KaiserAdler!
Third for Ahlstrand is an amazing result, should have been second given Onley's surprise but since we're not in any fight I'll just take the podium

Was hoping for a Top 10, but 11th is about par for the course for Kuli in this startlist.
Congrats Adler and thanks for the report

That is without doubt the worst last kilometer I have ever seen.
How is it possible to be leading by 24 seconds under the kite and then end up like I don't know...40 seconds behind?
Kaczmarek....what on earth are you doing
Congrats KaiserAdler, good to see our breakaway companion won in the end |
