Main sponsors from Germany and Austria, but the new HQ is based in Luxembourg... suspecting some tax-related reasons for the change Pfft

Good luck for the 2022 season; I think your team is pretty well set up for CT already (pre-renewals Pfft), and if you can add a clear-cut leader, you should definitely be a promotion contender!

I can't say who will remain or not yet, but I've marked the key riders last season, so watch this space.

But IMO the team would need an upgrade to be a real promotion contender. With the new teams on the horizon, transfer season would be important to the core for me.

As for the Luxembourgish nationality - it's just for funzies and given the uncertainty over the EA Vesuvio situation, someone has to carry the flag for the Grand Duchy Pfft

And to justify the Luxembourgish identity I've got RTL on board (the RTL Group, which encompasses various television and entertainment brands in Europe, is Luxembourg-based)

You had last season to do a sort of reset. Time to target promotion again Grin

The obligatory renewals update
And now it's time to give our very own update on the renewals made during the off-season:

Rider2021 Wage2022 WageDiff.
Bakhtiyar Kozhatayev€155,000€150,000€5,000
Rudy BarbierN/A€0N/A
Max Losch€80,000€95,000-€15,000
Andrei Sakalou€75,000€0€75,000
Momchil Robov€80,000€90,000-€10,000
William Barta€100,000€90,000€10,000
Dobrin LilovskiN/A€0N/A
Fredrik Ludvigsson€50,000€0€50,000
Chequan Richardson€50,000€60,000-€10,000
Valentin Stoenchev€50,000€50,000€0
Krzysztof Marchewka€50,000€0€50,000
Tormod Jacobsen€50,000€55,000-€5,000
Michael Vink€50,000€0€50,000
Emmanuel Morin€50,000€0€50,000
Tom Thill€50,000€0€50,000
Michael Valgren Andersen€60,000€0€60,000
Siim Kiskonen€50,000€50,000€0
Mikhail Kochetkov€50,000€0€50,000

Only 8 riders re-signed with the team for 2022. Of course, the two lead riders in Kozhatayev and Barta will stay and took small pay cuts. Kiskonen and Stoenchev remained on their 2021 wages, while 4 riders got a pay raise - Uppsala winner Max Losch, our lone cobbler Chequan Richardson, Robov (who had a late season surge) and Tormod Jacobsen. The remaining riders were let go, but there is still the possibility some of them to do our jerseys next season.

Regarding transfer availability - everyone will be made available, as long as the price is right.

Looks like a bit of the 'fat' was trimmed off the squad. Good start Smile

I think Kozhatayev, Barta, Losch, Robov and Richardson is a solid core to build around. You have the cap space to find one, maybe even two high points scorers, then add a few good depth pieces and I think you can easily be more competitive than last year.

Fabianski
Indeed, looks like there's quite some free cap space to bring in a couple more CT leaders Smile
A bit surprised to see Sakalou released, looks like a solid rider for any uphill terrain. And I didn't expect Morin to not be renewed, either, given that he hasn't even finished his development. But you don't seem to like pure puncheurs given the releases - and I guess you're not completely wrong with that Wink

Good luck for transfers Smile

To be fair, the release of Morin was a difficult decision as I didn't think I would loan him out easily. But pretty sure he will get picked up by some of the new French teams.

Sakalou didn't impress that much to warrant a new contract. Or maybe I didn't use him property. But then again, the puncheur position is my most difficult position to get riders and creating a calendar plan.

Overall looking pretty nice. Not too happy to see Morin being left behind. There would have been a nice sales potential with all those french teams. 78HI isn't that easy to get if you have a french focus.

Some necessary cuts I think. You could have tried to keep a couple of more and sell them, but ultimately you're talking about pretty small sales and maybe not worth the risk.

This is happening every year to be blunt - hopefully this time will do it right Smile

This quartet is really a good building block to build around. TBH, I was considering releasing Robov, but after Lugano and Zuri Mezgette (+ the NC RR title), retaining him was a must. Now, the priority is to get few solid pieces to compliment my already existing core. And this time I could be looking at combo riders that are good at sprints and cobbles.

Unfortunately I couldn't predict the future when I was doing the renewals. Had I made them at a later point, maybe things would've been different.

Unfortunately most of the released riders didn't had great resale value and decided it was not worth the hassle of keeping riders that won't be able to sell for profit.

Ahmad Zamri and Fenn are great pickups at this wage, congrats!
I doubt there will be many other 79 cobblers in CT, and although Fenn doesn't have strong backups, he should do well on the flat cobbles!
And the Malaysian should be a great support rider for stage races Smile

DarkWolf
Cobbles were my nemesis last year and I think it will be this year too. Or for the foreseeable future. Smile But it's nice to see these riders in other teams. Fenn is a very nice addition, congratulations!
