Kelderman with some Jekyll and Hyde performance with an utter disappointment in Euskal Bizikleta and some brilliant racing in Torino. So i guess there is only one constant: Paprstka is awesome!

@Nemolito: Well he showed it this time. Hasn't been the case on most other occasions this season! But I'll take that one for sure Grin

@knockout: Paprstka really is awesome! Him and Keinath have been the most consistent all season and have made up for the inconsistency elsewhere. There's a theme to those two as well with regards to where they came to us from Wink

Wilco gets a much deserved win!! Grin

It wasn't fun reporting on him at Euskal, but I guess lessons for the future. On the other hand Keinath and Paprstka have been awesome for you throughout the season Smile

You look set for automatic promotion Cool

@redordead: Yeah Wilco did well there. Keinath and Paprstka have been incredible really, given the competition.

@hillis: Agree with the first part. Not so sure about the second Pfft Only in particular races perhaps.

October Preview

The last month is here. We're very close to our goal now and look secured for promotion. The goal for this month is to try and push those above us as hard as possible.

October Review

It's been a long season, but an enjoyable one! Not too long ago, we were sitting at this point of the season last year and wondering what we would go next. We were heading back to the CT and had to turn around our fortunes completely to get back to where we thought we belonged. We have very close to achieving that now. With just a month's racing to cover, this was the last push towards ourselves back the middle division of the MG.

GP Kigali Review
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/profiles/hc_kig.jpg
Expectation: Top 10
The last month started with our last cobbles outing of the year. We didn't join the break but concentrated on staying safe in the pack. We missed the winning move but Paprstla kept himself in the top positions, finishing our best in 7th.Van Lerberghe and Bovenhuis finished 22nd and 23rd respectively.

Another race with all three of our cobbles riders scoring. We had hoped for a little more from this race, but it did not best suite our team. Can't have too many complaints though with our trio over the course of this season.

GP Lugano Review

Expectation: Top 5
Kelderman's last outing in C1 had seen him win in Milano-Torino. We knew this race didn't exactly suit him, especially the finish. But we were still hopeful.

No breaks for us as it all about keeping Kelderman safe. Schelling did some of the early pace-making along with others. Storer then took over in the second half as Kelderman remained in the leading positions all through. The final hills were not very selective and the reduced bunch sprint at the end meant Kelderman could only get 15th.

We misjudged how the race might play out. The finish did not suit Kelderman and we probably shouldn't have come here at all. Nevertheless, still soe points gained.

Boev finished really strongly on Stage 1 but just ran out of road and had to settle for 2nd.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Herald/S1/13.jpg

Boev was positioned well at the start of the sprint on Stage 2 but fell away afterwards.

Stage 3 didn't have anything of note for us.

We were hoping Dumoulin would end the year on a high with this being his last race targeting the GC. He has come close to a win many times but had not got one before this. He out in a fast time on Stage 3 being one of the early starters. The wind direction changed for the late starters and Dumoulin won by a big margin. Henttala was 13th and Watson was 23rd which moved them up in the GC.

The final stage went to the break. Dumoulin and the rest finished safely in the pack.

Bovenhuis joined the break. He picked up second place in the only intermediate sprint of the day.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Solidarnosc/S1/2.jpg

Van der Sanden didn't start well, not featuring at all in the sprint on Stage 1.

Our sprinter improved his form on Stage 2, finishing off a good sprint to take 3rd on the day.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Solidarnosc/S2/12.jpg

Paprstka joined the break on Stage 3. He took 3rd and 2nd in the two intermediate sprints.

Van der Sanden sprinted extremely well once again to finish 2nd.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C2HC/Solidarnosc/S3/10.jpg

Van der Sanden had no sprinting legs on Stage 4 and finished outside the Top 10.

His exploits on the two previous stages ensured 6th in the GC. Time gains made by Bovenhuis and Paprstka in their breakaways meant that they finished 20th and 19th in the GC, respectively.

We had almost zero expectations from this race, given the form Van der Sanden has shown previously this season. What we got was a very good haul of points. This was a very good way to end the season on a high for Van der Sanden.

Dumoulin was our best finisher on Stage 1 in 13th. Keinath lost just under 2 minutes to the best time.

Boev sprinted to 3rd on Stage 2!

Cepeda Hernandez and Bardet joined the break on Stage 3

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Bayern/fotosgoed/03ba03.jpg

Bardet won the first KOM sprint and finished 5th in the second to be tied at the top of that standing at that moment.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Bayern/fotosgoed/03ba05.jpg

Four riders attacked from a long way out and were not caught. Keinath remained in the group of favourites, finishing 12th and moving himself up to 10th in the GC. Henttala was also up to 16th in the GC.

Keinath did enough to defend his GC position on Stage 4.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Bayern/fotosgoed/04ba12.jpg

Dumoulin was once again our best result in 13th.

We protected Kelederman till the closing stages with Cepeda Hernandez working on the front as well. Kelderman remaining in the leading positions in the closing stages and was the first to accelerate for the win. He couldn't hold on but finished in 3rd.

Watson could not stay with the attacks and accelerations when they happened and finished in 27th.

Final Thoughts
Anonymous race from us and we ended the season with a 0 pointer. Watson's only leadership role this season is unsuccessful.

October was an excellent month of racing for us. While there was a 0 pointer and a small disappointment of Lugano also thrown in, we did get more than expected results in all the other races. An excellent way to end the season and we look forward to the final rankings update from the MGUCI now.

Signing off with the season's coverage from our HQ. Do stay tuned for our stats and facts posts which will be up over the next few days.

Tom Dumoulin with a huge result in the final moments of the season. Congrats for that!

Well done on the HQ for the entire season too. I often dont fully follow races outside of my division and HQs are a great way to keep up to date with current results. Your review format works quite well for me Smile

@knockout: Yes, DUmoulin had been getting closer and closer to the top spot and got the win in his final race as a GC contender Grin

Thanks for the nice words on my HQ Smile I try to keep the monthly posts going. Have cut down somewhat on the rest.

Congrats to a great final month! Your team almost managed to live up to the #1 billing, but I guess Kelderman performing not so great in "flat-ish" hilly races made the difference. Great planning to send him to Emelia instead of Zurich, though - guess that's a worthy strategy for Moscon as well Wink

Boev definitely was a great draft pick for you, tons of free points. And even VdS finally had a really good race in Poland. Keinath should have a great points/wage ratio, too - however, I guess we might both be fighting for a PCT GC leader next transfer season Wink

Watson couldn't do it, and you come up just short of the title, but still a great season considering that Kelderman underwhelmed at times again. Looking forward to racing with you in PCT again!

Awesome end to the season from everyone on the team Smile

Great that you are coming back to PCT, although I'm not looking forward to facing Kelderman as he clearly showed his quality in Emelia Pfft

I also agree with knockout, the HQ is as good as it gets. Which is to be expected from last year's best HQ Grin

@Fabianski: Yes, maybe Kelderman doing better in just one race would've got us the title. But truth be told, I didn't expect Keinath, Boev and definitely Parstka to be this good. So they probably balanced it out. Next season in PCT will have to be a major rebuild for us we have only leader so to say. Hope we don't go after the same riders too much Pfft

@bbl: Watson had the chance to be the ultimate hero, didn't he? It wasn't to be but it was a great fight all through the season for those Top 4 spots. Looking forward to riding the PCT together Smile

@redordead: Kelderman has gone from great to being prime selling candidate back to untouchable a few times this season Pfft Hope the last couple of months is a sign of things to come Smile

Thanks for the HQ comments Smile

Nemolito
If we forget about Lugano (let's not speak of it again Wink) I think it's fair to say the team had some great races in C1/HC to finish the season! Not only Kelderman in Emelia, but also (probably/maybe) the last C1 top-10 of Keinath's career and extra points thanks to several guys there in Bayern. I wish you the best in the PCT, may we meet again Smile

AbhishekLFC
@Nemolito: Surprisingly, besides Lugano, Kelderman was a lot more consistent in HC/C1 than in CT hilly races. Hope it's a sign for the future Wink Loved Keinath's result in Bayern and loved him in general over the season. Didn't expect him to be quite this good!

Think you should be coming up as well, given what we already know about disbands. Hope to meet you in PCT Smile

quadsas
I believe Kelderman needs a breath of fresh air. And it probably is best for Philips, as it's been shown even this year with guys like Eastman and big boy teams like mine, that you need widescale changes, and not relying on CT leaders Smile

To stay in the PCT, you have to become active in the transfer market. Your best mountain rider and your best sprinter have both gotten worse, or are getting worse. It's going to be a tough job. But: maybe her talent can surprise Inkelaar.

AbhishekLFC
@quadsas: If I didn't sell Keldrman going down CT, do you really think I'll sell him now? Wink We'll need those changes that to talk about anyway, with having only one real leader for the PCT.

@withoutnonsense: There is no other way really. You are right about Keinath, but he wouldn't have been competitive in the PCT even without the decline! Van der Sanden didn't really do well in the CT, so it is clear he's not leadership material. Inkelaar probably needs a loan-out to max, so there's very a small chance he rides with us next season.
