Here you can post what you would like to see in PCM 21 (or in a later patch of PCM 20, if the idea is feasible). I will make sure the suggestions will reach Cyanide.
Make sure to be specific and explain in some detail, not everything can be done easily, and not everyone is in your mind to understand what you mean.

Make sure to follow this template, posts outside of this template will not be considered.

A Real Map.
Instead of a black background why not a real-world map.
For some time now I've been wanting this. Whenever I look at the map it's just a black background and a yellow line. I find myself quite often when doing Grand Tours to look on a real map where I am. I'm sure this can't be that hard to implement

A career mode in multiplayer. I play with a friend, and we are frustrated that we cannot play a career together, in which we could manage our team, recruit cyclists from one season to the next, etc.

Also, in the current multiplayer mode, it is a shame not to be able to play with teams created, with a draft system where each team would choose a rider in turn.

Idea: Travel costs

Explanation
: IRL what keeps teams from doing all the races is the cost of moving everyone to that location. This is why UCI has implemented regions so Continental and Pro continental teams do not have to travel outside of their region. A simple travel cost could restrict these teams to stay in their region.

Why: Dutch and Belgium continental teams are full of Northern classics and sprinters and have no business taking part in South American races. Spanish and Italian continental teams are full of climbers and punchers that have no business in cobbled races or flat French sprint races.

idea: In crit races or loop races remove lapped riders

Explanation:
the implementation of a Broom wagon that can sweep up stragglers.

Why: During crit and looped races the stragglers are in the way of the leaders. They are so exhausted that they are more likely to fall and take the leaders out. Further more the hold position can become a real issue going through groups that are lapped.

Idea: Fitness loss when injured

Explanation: When a rider breaks his hip or arm or even has a virus it should impact their fitness.

Why: It is so unrealistic to have your rider come back from a 1 !/2 month injury to be right back at 97% fitness. it would be more realistic to have the rider come back at 70% so that he can train hard to get back into form.

Idea: Career mode in multiplayer
Explaination of idea: Be able to do some seasons and manage our team, recruit cyclists from one season to the next, etc. (in multiplayer mode)
Why (No one word or some word posts):Because it is more exciting playing the career mode, following our team during some seasons.

Idea: Transfer system in multiplayer
Explaination of idea: Be able trasnfer and recruit cyclists in multiplayer mode, frome one season to the next
Why (No one word or some word posts):Because it is more exciting playing the career mode, following our team during some seasons.

Idea: Draft mode in multiplayer
Explaination of idea: Create a draft system in multiplayer, where each team would choose a rider in turn.,
Why (No one word or some word posts): Because create a team is excisting and the draft is exciting too

Idea: Sort riders in dossier page
Explaination of idea: Being able to sort riders either by country, specialization, age, stats in the dossier page
Why (No one word or some word posts): To make it easier to search for the desired riders easier instead of having a huge amount of names to search through.

Idea: Create dossier in rider profile
Explaination of idea: Being able in the rider profile to either go to dossier page and automatically select the rider or being able to open a possible dossier, when in the periods of creating dossiers (May 1st, May 15th, etc)
Why (No one word or some word posts): Also to make it easier to search for the desired riders easier instead of having a huge amount of names to search through.

Idea: Fitness peak moment in Career Mode
Explanation of idea: To trigger fitness peak condition much earlier, not having to wait for 100 points. As it is defined now, with 70 points would work much better.
Why (No one word or some word posts): In case of Grand Tour objectives, is not big issue because riders are participating in lot of stages during GT and they get to 100 points at the end. But in Small Tours or one-day races objectives, is impossible to trigger fitness peak on time. To do that, right now you need to race A LOT before objective and/or organize training camps when not racing.

The other option is to remove fitness peak condition feature and just keep fitness level, I would also be happy with that.

I would like to see futures of a modern game today:

*real modding; where mods can have in game interface, not file changing as it is now.

*some sort of explanation of the mechanics, not a 5 page explanation on line what buttons do (and same tutorial) , but something like a wiki.

*of course: fix the bugs that have been in game for years.

*start over the AI from scratch, analyze proper before even starting programming it. Not change a few values and 1 line of code and say with each release "improved ai".

*keyboard configuration: so basic ,yet so absent.

*support of the world community ,not just the french. And that's the problem ,cyanide will never read this.

***but what i really need is the ability to have my rider make an obscene gesture when AI gangs up on me.

I only ask more faces pictures for regens like Football Manager

What would be great is that when playing as a manager for team one could have a shot on "watching" races your team isn't in. You get a bit scouting on how cyclists doing on the road. Breakaway special as such. You can perhaps more easier pick the new guys to your team. Then if you got your team just in Conti you never get to see the Big races until you advance to that level. Could be fun. Football Manager have had this for yeras. If you team isn't playing you can "attend" another match on the days to spot players you might sign later on.
After all it's a manager game and it lacks tons of manager stuff and looks more and more like an Arcade game to me.

Haven't bought the last few versions since it doesn't look to evolve toward more manager things but towards "Be a cyclist".

Another thing is I would like to see more DS orders to my team prio to race starts. Should my team be in front to pull or just watch speicific riders or other teams and react to what they do. Specific who will be my lead-out for my sprinter. Then of course be able to try and change that during the race. Having a road captain to see those "orders" carried out during racetime.
Of course then madly see that my riders don't carry out the tac-orders correctly. Much like the best and biggest manager game FM.

Have the creators of this game even heard about FM ??? Doubt it. Rolling Eyes

My wish is to have more new additions to the stage builder not just one or two new additions a year, we need entire packs, like Asian, African, Middel East housing, a lot of waterbased units, and maybe most important absolutely political incorrect only to have Christian religious buildings

Yes there is (old) user made packs out there but stuff like that should come with the game.

Hi. I'm new to the forum and the game and just have some thoughts from Pro Cyclist Mode as it's the only mode I have tried so far.

Idea: Force user to accept/refuse contract.
Explanation of idea: Like other important matters don't allow the game to proceed past a contract offer closing date until we accept or refuse.
Why: It is ridiculous that if you don't keep an eye on things you can miss contract closing dates not to mention the possibility of the game screwing you over on it. I have just scrapped a game because I had an offer expiring on the 20th September. I waited until the 19th then clicked continue and pressed space immediately. This should guarantee it will stop next day but the game bugged out and carried on. Contract with CWT team missed with my current team dropping to Continental from Pro and me having just podiumed the Vuelta. Game over. The idea that your current team will save the day is not sufficient in many cases as protection. Simpy don't let us go past a closing date like other things it stops on.

Idea: Simulate results while letting us do other things.
Explanation of idea: Display results on a ticker while letting us continue to browse various things. If results need to be simulated on a race day let us start the race and simulate results while we race.
Why: Surely we are at the point where a modern game can have more than one thread running at the same time?

Idea: Commentator needs to go or at the least his comments updated.
Explanation of idea: Update or remove the commentator.
Why: Yeah this guy just gets boring after a while not to mention his constant announcements of attacks when it's just riders going for sprint/climber points. If it can't be easily refreshed then just get rid.

Idea: How about a new face on the podium?
Explanation of idea: Make the face of the rider on the podium match the actual rider who won (at least vary it when it's not you and match if it is you).
Why: Has anyone noticed it's always the same guy on the podium? While they are at it those two girls need a break.

I like all of these.
The commentator is so old at this point. The only point having it still serves is letting you know when someone is attacking etc.

The face thing always bugged me. In fact I would go further and suggest more faces and ability to edit faces like most other games have.

Idea: Connecting targets, calendars and training

Explaination of idea: It seems to me that these 3 are unconnected and too random in the game. In my opinion, it would be more fun to play if the targets, races and training were part of a single programme. What programme they get would depend on the rider (type and favourite races), on their team and only a little bit on random chance.

For example a world class stage rider or climber shouldn't care about lesser races. They should base his season around GTs. Which GT he rides would depend on how important are the GTs to his team and his favoured races.

For example on AG2R where the Tour is 4*, the Giro is 2* and the Vuelta is 1* important, a GT rider should have similar ratio of chances (57,1%, 28,6%, 14,3% in this case) to get a programme based on them. Favourite races should grant a small bonus, like a 0,5 to 1 star to modify this chance.

This programme would include the GT as the target and a training schedule+preparation races combo to arrive to this GT as close to 100% fitness with the least amount of tiredness. That fitness vs tiredness is why GC riders in a normal year ride the Dauphiné or Tour de Suisse or Occitanie in the preparation period before the Tour de France, but they don't ride more than 1 stage race. They don't want to get too tired or get in shape too early before they need to.

Why (No one word or some word posts): The current system really seems weird to me. At least in Pro Cyclist Mode which I play almost exclusively.

Riders set random targets. Sometimes they don't even ride those targets or even if they do, they get a different training schedule so they're only at 85% at their target.

The most annoying thing is that when leaders do this. So instead of battling with everybody for a GT, you fight with only the 2-3 riders who are good enough, targeted the races, got lucky with their training and are actually peaking for the race.

Eg. when I was with Androni, every single rider on the team set Halle-Ingooigem as a summer objective. Surely as the most important race for the team in the whole year the Giro d'Italia should have been the target for at least 8 riders + a couple of standbys?
Then in the Giro I finished 2nd with a 20 year old time trialist with 73 mountain, 75 resistance and 70 recovery on Extreme difficulty because the winner Evenepoel and me were the only two GC riders peaking at the race. All the other GC candidates were at mid 80s fitness...

With Arkéa, Quintana and Barguil and the whole team targeted the Tour l'Avenir, for which they aren't even eligible!

With AG2R, Bardet targeted the Dauphiné in the summer.

With EF, Urán and Higuita targeted the Tour, but they didn't ride it. They did start the Giro and the Vuelta though. They were at 80% fitness for both...

Idea: customize team name

Explanation: possibility to update and customize team name every start of new year in carrer mode

Why: some teams have in the team name, the name of technical sponsor (for example trek-segafredo, Mitchelton-Scott). If i did a sponsor change at the end of the past season, give us the possibility to change that name, it's orrible to see my team named "trek-segafredo" with another sponsor on the t-shirt and on the bike.

Idea: see on the map the "windly" segment

Explanation: possibilty to see on the map during the race, which segment of the road is exposed to crosswind, like pavè segment for example.

Why: it would be nice to prepare an attack using crosswind but now it's so difficult because there's no way to know for sure where are the key point to attach before approaching that

I have posted this in an other thread, but probably this is the right one to post
Idea: I think the STAT EVOLUTION model needs a bit of a change for the next edition, or - if it is possible - for a new patch or even database version.

Explanation:
So basically what happens nowdays is that after teams discovering different measurements techniques in data analysis, we see that 21-23 year old guys can win three week tours. As I gather the explaination is simple: they can measure the exact limits of riders, and they can see if a youngster could cope with a 3w tour. The watt-measurements provide them the exact tactics, they wont blow themselves up. AND because of that we also learned something I think.
In PCM language, the evolution of certain stats aren't the same az others'. We can see that RECOVERY can get very high in matter of 1-2 years. I think the REC stat's evolution is quite different then the most of the others. I suggest that the correct model of REC would be: It gets to its maximum with perfect training at around 22-23, and it stays there for 4-5 years. And lets say when a rider reaches 28, its starts to go down very gently. And when a rider reaches the year at which he starts to decline ( in PCM its usually 33, but that's an other thing to fix, because many riders keep top form till like 35-36 ), so when the rider reaches that age, rec declines more drastically.
For example Pogacar right now has an incredible high REC, look at the last competetive stage of TDF. He was clearly a number below Roglic in the mountains ( I think Rog 82, Pog 81 ), and I suppose his RES is lower too. In TT, they are about the same, maybe Pog 81, Rog 80? ... but Pog's recovery is incredible, just as all the youngsters' in recent years with podium finishes ( mas, bernal, pog ). It tells me that REC has a different evolution. I think Pogacar REC is around 82 now, and it is already at its peak. And I think the realistic evolution for him could be like: He stays 82 until 27 years old, and than he slowly declines to 77 until lets say year 35, and after that it can drop yearly.
There is an other stat like that: ACCELERATION. Its almost the same. These two gets up to their peak much sooner, and it start to (slowly) decline also sooner than others. Sprint is also like that to a merit ( lets say peaks at 24, slow decline at 29, hard decline at decline-age) On the other hand, STA, RES, FLAT and DH are the opposite, they peak even later, than other stats, I think they peak at 30 and dont decline at all until like 34.

I think this is the next step for stat evolution.

Idea: More team control in Pro Cyclist
Explaination of idea: Give control to order teammates to attack, wait, breakaway.
Why (No one word or some word posts): Wait is mandatory. Doesn't make any sense that the leader of the team fell and no teamate wait. Attack and breakaway might be usefull and interesting to make other teams take the rithm.

Idea: Change Pro Cyclist progression
Explaination of idea: Addapt progression to age/years of pro-cyclist.
Why (No one word or some word posts): It's really weird that a rookie pro-cyclist become the best in Continental cattegorie in the first year and go straigt to World Tour.

Agreed with the first, but in the age of Pogacar, Evenepoel, Higuita, Brenner etc. how is it weird that a neo-pro could go straight from the Continental ranks into the WT?

I have been playing PCM for many years, especially career mode, and, in general, I like the concept of the game, but I think there are some details that would make the game much more attractive, so my suggestions will be directed towards those details to improve and some important aspects of the AI. I will try to be realistic with the suggestions and apologize for the extent of my message, I have done so with all the affection and dedicating quite some time due to my poor English level. Thank you for the opportunity to contribute, and I will be grateful to Cyanide just for considering these ideas.

VISUAL ASPECT

1

Idea: Modify podium and animations.

Explaination: A change in the animation and appearance of the podium after the stages, consisting of changing the Cyanide Trophy for more realistic cups or trophies, there could be different models depending on whether it is a GT, Monument, WT Race, Classic WT etc. I would also like the one-day and final podium races of the stage laps to also appear the podium with the top three qualifiers, that the podium cyclist is not always the same and the one that appears corresponds to the face of the runner.

Why: Give more realism to the final podium of the races giving its space to the 2nd and 3rd, make it less repetitive and monotonous and make it easier to identify your cyclist with the one that appears in the animation.

2

Idea: There are different ways to ride a bike

Explaination: Each cyclist has a way of riding a bike, some stand more often, others are almost always seated, among the latter there are with a more or less upright position, other cyclists have a way to pedal more agonizing and moving a lot the body (as when you run out of bar in the game), cyclists who when standing up grab the handlebars below (Pantani , Landa). The idea would be to introduce 4 or 5 types of ways to ride a bike (the current standard, the one that tends a lot to stand (Contador or Mas), which usually always sits (Roglic), the agonizing or pitching (Froome), the one to hold on from below (Landa), assigning one to each rider according to the way they run.

Why: That all cyclists move the same detract from the realism of the game and makes the visual aspect of cyclists very monotonous. In this way it would be possible to give more identity of its own to cyclists by having its own way of riding a bike and the visual aspect of the game would gain a lot of realism and dynamism, I think it would be one of the most attractive and spectacular visual developments that could be added without touching the graphics engine.

NEW ATTRIBUTES

1

Idea: Enter the attribute "Regularity"

Explaination: A very positive point of the game is that the sensations of the day (from -5 to +5) depend on various aspects such as fitness, morale, weather or stage recognition. But still, there are cyclists who tend to be more regular than others in their performance. With this system, a cyclist of "maximum regularity" and in good shape would tend to always be between +3 and +5, but even in more unfavorable conditions of fitness, climate or morality, it would be very difficult to see him in negative. An irregular cyclist, on the other hand, would move between -5 and +5 both in full shape and in bad shape, although in the first case he would tend more to positive numbers and in the second case to negative numbers. Finally, a cyclist of "medium regularity" would be one who usually moves between 0 and +1 without tending to high or low peaks, although in certain circumstances of shape, morality or weather he might have those peaks.

Why: Give greater realism to the sensations of cyclists in the race and introduce a quality or defect that exists in real cycling and has a lot of effect on the race performance. An example of a cyclist of very high and low peaks in the same race would be Miguel Angel LĂłpez, a cyclist of average regularity could be Mikel Landa and cyclist of maximum regularity, who usually performs whenever he is fit in very high peaks could be Roglic.

2

Idea: Enter the attribute "Ambition"

Explaination: I don't mean the "Combativity" value in the sense of attacking more or looking for more breakaways, ambition would have a different nuance. It refers to whether a cyclist, in a race situation or having a certain position in the general classification of a race, tends to resign with his top ten or podium position or, on the contrary, he is only worth winning and therefore tends to attack to seek victory or the first place of the general even if it puts that race or position of honor or podium situation at risk. For example, Bernal, Pogacar or Roglic, runners of the utmost prestige and ambition, if they go 3rd or 2nd they will attack even from afar even if they can lose the podium; Más, with less prestige and less ambition, if he is on podium or top 5, will tend to conserve and not attack, or do it already close to goal and only if it goes very well; Runners with less prestige and ambition seen in top 10 positions (Buchmann, A. Yates, Urán) will simply follow wheels and try not to lose their top 10. Other runners with some prestige but more ambition, such as Landa or Lopez, will look for distant attacks and aggressive moves to look for the podium and will not settle for a top 10. Perhaps this would be possible without creating a new attribute and simply modifying the incidence of Combativity.

Why: This thing I've explained isn't achieved by the "combative" attribute and all leaders run in a similar way. However, this attribute, coupled with the prestige or role of favorite in that race of the cyclist, would have direct influence on the AI of the game and the different racing strategies. We would see runners who simply keep what they have, those who attack without putting too much at risk and the winners who seek to boost the race by putting suffocating rhythms or attacking from afar to win or get on the podium.

AI

Idea: In the mountain stages, when the favorites group breaks and two or more of them leave ahead, make it easier for them to collaborate with each other to open a gap. Cyclists will decide based on the benefit they make in the overall ranking of that race situation.

Explaination: When your leader escapes on the mountain with another favorite, he almost always denies you the relay because "You're doing better overall" or "You're more favorite" and this creates unrealistic situations where the 2nd with the 5th escapes, for example, the 5th denies me the relay when I could get on the podium. The AI should be based on the following: 1st If your opponent also benefits from climbing places in the general or pushing away a major opponent, he must collaborate, 2nd If you relieve the normal is that the other also relieves. Examples: They escape 2nd and 5th or 1st and 4th or 3rd and 7th, or several of them... they usually collaborate because everyone benefits; if, for example, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th are escaped, it is normal that 4th and 6th collaborate to climb positions and 1st and 2nd do not enter the relay, unless the 3rd is very close to them in the classification. In general the leader should only collaborate if 2nd and 3rd are off-hook and close in the standings.
Or, for example, when the leader lags behind and they go ahead 2nd and 3rd, don't put on the 8th going in the leader's group to pull him like a madman, the logic is that the leader fights to defend his post, or the 4th and 5th will help him if they are in that group to fight for the podium , and have the 7th, 8th or 9th stay on the wheel because they make no profit in entering the relay.

Why: On too many occasions, especially in mountain stages, the above-explained situations occur where cyclists do not collaborate when they could benefit from those movements or help the leader cyclists without reason to do so, which is unrealistic and makes it almost impossible to force distant movements without runners from your team ahead. Modifying the AI in this regard would create interesting career situations with alliances between leaders from different teams based on common interests and where it would be very important as the player manages the efforts in those relays, as well as the management of those forces that the AI did in the relays of breakaway teammates.

MANAGEMENT

Idea: Introduce during staged races the management of the recovery of efforts.

Explaination: It would consist of introducing a number of options, both for each stage and on the rest days of the G.Tours, which would have a direct impact on accumulated fatigue and physical recovery. For example, that you could establish more hours of massage or physiotherapy if a cyclist has ended up very fatigued a stage so that he recovers better or, on the contrary, if he has finished the stage well and has a very loaded season, that you can reduce those sessions to favor rest. And on the days of rest you can choose between a total rest, roll soft, do a more hard exercise... Depending on whether the cyclist is more fatigued or if he has come short of form to the race, with an impact on physical recovery and form. Perhaps other things could be added as a possibility to select hotel or buy buses (more expensive the more comfortable and better for rest)

Why: It would be a way to introduce something else into management. In addition to the fact that it would be interesting to manage the recovery of cyclists during the staged laps, especially in Giro, Tour and Vuelta, so that the performance of your cyclists does not depend only on the planning of January, but that the management of the recovery sessions after the stages and days of rest could give you that or take away that extra point of freshness that makes a difference. It is simply an idea, I understand that of all my suggestions this may be the most complicated to apply, but in team management there is not much to add to the game.
