CT Draft Discussion [8pm BST]
Scorchio
Unless I missed him in all the rush, no Boev - that surprises me, and agree with KO's suggestions - all bound to get amateur contracts I'm sure (more lucrative - meybe they chose not to pick up the phone when it rang Pfft).

There are plenty of other heralded riders left for the Amateur teams to fixate on if they are paying proper attention, so I'll avoid making a big list - do your own homework folks! It is probably an unlikely shot, but World Cycling Centre have applied for an Amateur license to potentially enable them to continue their good works in 2019. Some development nuggets left as well, but they are on the verge of running dry, so there might be some bidding wars for the best remaining development riders (I'd perhaps stop short of labelling them 'talents' ).

Nevertheless an interesting 2nd CT draft class. The value of each pick will become more apparent as they are viewed in the wider picture of the full team rosters. Maybe then some of the head-scratchers will make a little more sense. Pfft

Can’t believe Australian champ Simon Clarke slipped through. Tsmoha will like it though, first name on the amateur shortlist?

Doesn't Simon still have a contract with Air France - KLM or has my alter-ego Scorchio's drinking problem started to leech through the digital barrier into my system?

For a few seconds you made me think, that I totally overlooked Clarke as an available free agent Grin

Still a few interesting riders left in free agency.

Quite surprised neither Lindau or Frengstad Berger got picked reckon those could be useful in CT on the other hand Dont really Know how CT squads look like this year yet

Guillen and Cisse it finally is. That's 1-2 on my list. I didn't expect this, to be honest.
When I swapped out Krasnov for Signorini, I knew I would like to get a similar replacement from the draft. As you never know who gets a contract in the last minutes of transfers, and who the teams before you will pick, I put like 6 sprinters/leadouts on top of my list. So at least I was sure to get one of them. Now it's two.
I could have told MGCUI to continue after this block for the 2nd pick, which would have brought Marcel Wyss to my team - I wouldn't have been unhappy with him, either. But Guillen/Cisse is really nice for me.
As Guillen is now the highest OVL rider in my team (sic!), he has the least number of RDs available, so Cisse will definitely get his own chances to shine. Moreover, with his nice Rec he's a much better fit for stage races than Guillen, who's probably rather going to race one-day-races. We'll see, I'll start the race planning adventure shortly Smile

Looking a bit closer into things I had Guillén, Podznyakov, Hardy and Nzeke removed from my 20 riders long shortlist to amateurs. I basically expected all of them to go. So that's nice Smile

Very nice with the draft comments!

Sloppy DB work by me only now realising that Andersson was 4.0 and not 4.100. Hadn't I missed that he probably would have gotten a ride at Valio - Viking Genetics. Too much going on IRL the final week of transfers I guess Sad
Anyway good that he gets a ride even if it won't really help his development.

A bit sad also that Lindau haven't gotten a ride yet. Hopefully he's on the shortlist of some amateur teams at least Wink

Uri's a nice pick-up. One of the riders in MG DB who is closest to an all 70+ stat-line (67 lowest stat). Makes him very useful to fill in on pretty much every terrain when working with a small squad (as is the definition in CT) - a race planner file dream!.

With Kent's preceeding post, the case for the prosecution stands on the evidence presented! Smile.

In fairness, I don't have shit for racedays... think 4 racedays left is the most any rider has.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Julien Berard had retired, going out on a high after winning the 2015 Tour of East Java. He is still 76 Mountain, and he is back in the peloton. He has been selected by Eddie Stobart.

Back in the days when 76Mo was potential leadership material in CT, I think I had Nieve (also 76Mo) as my leader (maybe Signorini?) who finished 3rd - 4th from memory. Berard was untouchable in the final stage
