Hungarian National Road Race Championship

Six professionals from Hungary but none of them is a good puncheur. Maybe an amateur can use this race as his breakthrough?

A split in the peloton on the plateau after the second-a-last climb, seventeen riders in front including all professionals. Two amateurs lead by fifty seconds.

The pros closed the gap to the amateurs but the peloton also closed the gap, thus one large regroup at the foot of the final climb.

All professionals attack and the amateurs don't have an answer. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Szalontay the only one struggling to get to the front.

Small differences at the top. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_zal.png Rozsa leads by five seconds over pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Kenyeres and another ten to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_xva.png Dina and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_red.png Varga, and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Lovassy not that far behind them either.

The five seconds would be enough for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_zal.png Balazs Rozsa to win the Hungarian Championship! Due to his early celebrations, Kenyeres is given the same time as second-placed. Varga completes the podium, beating Dina and Lovassy in the sprint.

Hungarian National Time Trial Championship

Time trialling is also not the specialty of many Hungarian cyclists. We'll have to look at split times to get any indication.

If we look at the first split, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Szalontay is on his way to win, leading pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_xva.png Diva by seventeen seconds.

Dina is 31 seconds behind at checkpoint two and 48 at checkpoint three. The result seems clear.

Szalontay could afford to cross the line with his hands in the air but chose not to. In the end he wins by 59 seconds.

Last in the RR, first in the TT: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Sandor Szalontay!
