Le Tour de France

Well I can't just call in sick, or can I? Pfft

Nah, well I didn't miss Alp d'Huez since I watched the final two hours, not knowing the outcome, so in some way I watched it live Pfft

I'm gonna be a nerve-wreck tomorrow and to make things work I can't follow the stage live. I'm off from work at 5PM, meaning I won't be able to catch an acceptable amount of the time trial, meaning I will have to wait until 9:30PM to watch. So I will have to seal myself off of the world of sports once again, knowing when I do that the winner of the Tour de France is already found, but I'm the only one who doesn't know. I did the same with Liege-Bastogne-Liege and it was an awful feeling, waiting for the replay. Tomorrow will be even worse.

don't stress, I think this is by far the most predictable final TT ever. If I were a betting man, I would lay down large quantities of money on a certain top5. it's that likely, in my view.

I see it as

1. Evans
2. Sastre
3. Menchov
4. Kohl
5. Schleck

how does everyone else see it?

I don't like you level-headedness in this case isso, you're spoilig my dream.

No seriously, Carlos can pull this off and I believe he can win this Tour. Considering their respective abilities in a time trial it's easiest just to say that Evans will win the Tour, I know. But looking at the outcome of the last three final time trials of the Tour de France it looks good for Sastre. In 2005 and 2006 he only lost around one minute on Evans (one of those years he only lost 58 seconds, not sure which though). Lasy year was not good though where he lost more than 2 minutes on Evans in the final TT. But looking at their situations in that race, those two minutes could be a bit misleading. Carlos was in 4th place with no chance whatsoever of advancing or moving down, so he had no reason to go flat-out. Evans on the oher hand was riding for the Tour win, meaning he had a very good chance of going flat-out, which he surely did. This year Sastre will go flat-out too, and so maybe we're back at around that one-minute deficit that was between them in the 2005 and 2006 editions of the Tour de France.

I sure hope so as I don't want to see mental guy like Cadel run away with this and of course because Sastre is my undisputed favourite rider and has been for a long time. So I have waited a long time for this to happen.

This lookes quiet like I would have said it, or actually the samePfft.

My bet on Champs is that Sammuel Sanchez makes a Vinokurov, and attacks at the last and winsGrin

believe me, I'd be jumping for joy if Carlos pulled off a miracle, but the chances are just too small.

I know its hard to be a CSC fan. Everytime we reach Paris, they always go "Yeah, but we were the moral winners" or "Dont worry, Sastre will win next year", and every year i call bullshit. There is no reason to be a CSC-fan. You think they are danish? Guess what? They only brought one danish rider along, even the italian teams brings some italians that cant do shit, so why cant CSC?

I really hope some fan will spoil Evans' race tomorrow. He just doesn't deserve it enough. Let Menchov win. Or Kohl. Or Sastre. Or Schleck - just not Evans.

No ill go be an Evans fan. Frankly, i'd rather cheer on a rider because of his personality rather than his nationality or because he rides for a certain team. Heck, im still supporting Ricco simply because he was exciting to watch and hear.

Evans is a complete twat isn't he:lol:

I would love for Sastre to win, realistcally it just aint gonna happen. But as Crue said, we can hope something bad will happen to CadelSmile

On the subject of today's stage (as I cant see it having been mentioned already) Im glad that Sylvain Chavanel won, he really deserved it after being so aggressive throughout the race.

Chavanel for president!

no, really, I agree, and especially because Roy barely worked for the last 10 or so kms (although that's just because he was dead)

I wouldnt call Evans a twat. Personally im considering rather intelligent. So by that standard, i can only like that doesnt attack, or riders which constantly attack. I suppose thats correct though seeing how i liked Ullrich.

Oh yeah, and Chavanel really deserved a win by now.

the only problem Chavanel has is he attacks at all the wrong times. when it's obvious the break has a great chance he doesn't go. when it has barely any chance, he goes. he's not a complete moron like Leukemans, but it doesn't bode well for him

I am really talking about his attitude when talking to the media, for me, when he is talking to the media he souds like a right twat. Although I admit, I wouldn't exactly enjoy the media being all over me either...

About Chavanel, apparently of about 3500kms ridden so far in the Tour he has ridden over 400kms out front, which is incredible. He deserved the win today, Roy was never going to beat himPfft

Well the way Cadel Evans has conducted himself has made me go from wanting him to win, to wanting him to lose Pfft

I think Benoit Vaugrenard will get a top 15 finish tomorrow. Thats my tip for an outsider for a good ride. He was crud at the French National TT Champs, but a solid 3 week tour and several breaks as well as taking it easy yesterday and sitting up today when the pace went psycho means i think he's saving himself a little for tomorrow. Won't do the French any bad to get another good ride tomorrow either. God knows they need it when the Brits beat them at their own sport....

Ill have to admit, i like Sastre, he appears to be nice guy, but i cant take him serious when rides for CSC. Nothing to do with him, and i would like to see him win. Because i have this nagging fear ive said i dont want Sastre to win, but im sure thats not what i mean. None-the-less, i still think (and kinda want) Evans to win.

I think Sastre has improved in tt over this season or at least Bjarne Riis told tv2 that he has done some windtunnel exercises and tt training so I think he can do it. In 2006 sastre only lost to evans with 1 min and 3 sec and that tt was 4 kms longer. So I bet on Sastre, he will be better in yellow! Pfft

Exactly the samePfft

At the start of the Tour I was wanting Cadel to win, because he is always up there and never quite makes it. Now, I can't wait to see if he crashesPfft

For the stage, I'm going with Cancellara. he's in a form he clearly wasn't in at the start of the Tour.

plus, he's said all along that his goal is the olympics
