Quite strange that been quite similar riders, specially liking Mon-Hill stage races, Meintjes and Kudus will only race together in a HC mountain classic in Kenya

2019 Availability Post

Following other announcements from other teams regarding rider availability. Team management have decided to follow suit. The following riders are potentially available depending on the offer on the table:
Andreas Stauff

Serghei Tvetcov

There are rumours that the priority is to sell Stauff, quite simply he hasn't had the impact required of him and we feel that he would be best placed in another team, as a leader for a CT team or as a member of a leadout train.
Tvetcov has seen his prominence decline in recent years, being replaced by new boy Meintjes so its little surprise there have been rumblings that the former winner of the Individual Riders Rankings in the CT division in 2016 wants to taste more of that glory in the future.
The other two riders are seen as settled in the team but if the right offer came in, or to the right team then these riders could leave the team. Even team leader Jonathan Bellis could leave depending on the circumstances...

Interesting stuff... Despite a french rider being "available" it's actually the other three that catches my eyes.

Maybe Stauff and/or Thwaites could be a possibility for leading out Coquard - and Daniel for the cobbles. We can talk Smile

Overall, we feel that we have managed to keep the team at a similar level to last season, even with the outgoings of Andreas Stauff, Serghei Tvetcov and Stelly Robert. The window proved to be very difficult, with many plans having to be thrown out in place of new ones on a routine basis as key free agent signings were missed out on in a very busy market. Even so, the signing of Sondre Holst Enger may prove to be a very astute one - coming in from Aker - MOT in exchange for Tvetcov. This has strengthened our sprint corps and the additions of Bar and Redecker ensures we will field an impressive lead out train on our day. Koren and to a lesser extent Ovechkin add a little depth to our TT unit and may prove to add some well needed depth scoring in races we may not do well in otherwise.
Unfortunately, Meintjes and Bellis will both have to lead their respective races with less support than before with the loss of Tvetcov. The cobbles duo of Fenn and Thwaites was not broken up either and may prove to score a decent haul of points in the cobbled races we have to face.
Talent wise we add Thomas, Skaarseth and Okamoto on year long loans to aid in their development while we sign promising Welsh climber Stephen Williams on a permanent deal to expand on our growing local home grown talent alongside Cullaigh.

Hopefully all these signings have allowed us to maintain a comfortable position in the PCT division, we see many other strong teams and leaders which make us feel that we would do well to do any better. That being said we do wish our competitors good luck and we cant wait for the new season to begin!

No Meintjes training? Should have sold him to me...

Enger is a very cool sprinter and Bar and Redecker are lovely leadouts! At first glance looks like an upgrade on last year's very solid team, so congrats!

@ DaveTwoBob - Yeah I do like the look of Enger, I think we've really improved in that regard so I'm looking forward to the new season with him!

@ Jandal - Well if you offered 1.2mil for someone else I'd be able to train Meintjes Pfft Original plan was to train but I couldn't get any decent riders that I wanted in Free Agency so I blew my money on Enger instead. Which wasn't a bad investment considering his age.
Also thanks for the praise, I do hope with the improved team we can manage to do better than last season Grin

Let's go Okamoto! Came very close to singing Enger, big fan of his and of this team. It's really improving rapidly from year-to-year, an outside shot at promotion is not unthinkable...

A Year in the Life of: Sondre Holst Enger
2019 was not an eventful year for me - something I'm very sad to say looking back on it. I remember sitting in cycleYorkshire's HQ signing what I felt like was a new opportunity for me. The previous few years I had begun to solidify myself as a decent sprinter on the PT stage with Aker - MOT, but the level was getting harder and the environment a little too stale for my liking so off I went to the PCT division in search for some wins. Better yet, I was valued highly; I heard that the manager ryant had invested heavily into me and the new Norwegian NC jersey really did look nice on me but as you may find out - it didn't exactly work out the way I liked.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C1/Uppsala/E5/20.jpg
Me looking quite smart in my National Champions Jersey! I also finished 2nd on this stage, my best result of the year.
Sprint! You idiot!

So what went wrong you ask? Good question. For some reason almost all year I felt pretty damn weak to be honest with you, and for not much good reason either. Every breakthrough seemed to follow an even greater disappointment and by season's end I was totally empty. Team doctors eventually settled on over training during the off season as the prime suspect although I did hear one doctor suggesting mononucleosis. Either way my season was blown to pieces and the treatment was simple - a lot of rest. Something I will do this winter mind you!

The Baltics - both Heaven and Hell

Almost a perfect metaphor for my year could be summed up in two races, The Tour of Uppsala and the Baltic Chain Tour. In nearby Sweden I had my best race of season beyond doubt! Two podiums and another top 10 gave me a glimpse of what I knew I had! The only race I felt that I was truly competitive and in the mix for a win. In the end I had to settle with 2nd place as my best result - too bad for me. The food and family visiting really made me up my game, shame that form never lasted, I never finished in the top 10 for the rest of the year with the Baltic Chain Tour one of the worst races of my life almost convincing me to end my season early but I was convinced to ride Paris - Tours in solidarity with my team, and a welcome bonus!
In the end I'm glad this nightmare is over and I'll look forward to the future, even if it is a little uncertain. I'm in no doubt I can do better in 2020. Just you watch!

Sondre Holst Enger

@Dave - I damn sure hope the game will treat Enger better in the Pro Tour, but maybe I wont need to :s

@aidan - welcome back! Meintjes for sure has become a top star for the team, Redecker is a new addition but he did what I probably expect of him, maybe he would suit CT a lot more! Wink

New Look team announced for 2021!
After a rather hectic transfer season, cycleYorkshire are pleased to announce the team that will compete in the PCT division for the 2021 season. Ambitions are high in the outfit from Yorkshire despite the fact we missed out on some high priority targets but in the end we feel we managed to salvage the situation with some pretty astute signings

So first of all we can announce the team that will represent us!

Outgoings
Obviously looking down the team one of the biggest absences and in all truths most unlikely outgoings is the team's former stalwart, Louis Meintjes. The South African had an impressive breakout year in the PT - finishing the year with 860 pts. The highlights being taking 6th Overall and a stage win in the TDF, a 3rd place finish in the Volta ao Portugal and 4th overall in the Tour de Suisse. In the end we felt we received a good enough deal for him, receiving a rider we have always wanted in return. He will ply his trade yet again at the highest level of the MGUCI by riding for Farfetch Pro Cycling.

Another key outgoing is
Sondre Holst Enger. It didn't really work out the way we wanted to so the multi talented young sprinter will aim to revive his career at Amaysim - CervΓ©lo. We wish him well in his endeavours.

Dylan Van Baarle moved to one of his greatest admirers in Generali, the Dutchman has a unique skillset and while he didn't necessarily get the top results as a cycleYorkshire rider, he still did manage a 11th place finish in the TONE and an 13th place finish in the Cheshire Cycling Tour.

Stephen Williams will finish his journey collecting experience at top outfit Evonik - ELKO he should be a valuable asset for them shadowing MG legend himself Rein TaaramΓ€e.

Incomings
So with one key outgoing you must wonder who we traded for after selling our metaphorical soul in Louis Meintjes. That rider is premier British climber - Hugh Carthy. He will have some pretty big shoes to fill but we are happy we have brought in one of Britain's top riders. Expect him to lead cycleYorkshire's charge in the high mountains across the world.

Another key addition is Omar Fraile. He joined from Isostar - Specialized for a cool 1.25 million. He has a skillset not matched by our other Time Triallers, being able to cope with hills and high mountains very well. The Spaniard will be key for our push for an immediate return to the Pro Tour.

Ivo Oliveira joined in the trade for Dylan Van Baarle, he brings youthfulness to our team while still being a top class operator in the time trials. He should be in the shout for a few more U25 jerseys and a valuable part of our TTT aperatus.

We further strengthen the team with the astute signing of Elia Viviani from King Power. He signed for 500k and will bring his experience to not only act as a valuable road captain but again to strengthen our TTT core. Something which was key to our promotion back in 2019.

Our next two additions are not expected to be point scorers now but are talents for the future, one being - Dimitrios Christakos of Festina - OAKA the young Greek is certainly not the most talented rider discovered by one the world's best outfits but he will none the less ride his first year in the professional ranks for cycleYorkshire.

The other talent being
Javier Romo, the young Spaniard unexpectantly fell to the Yorkshire outfit from Free Agency late in the window but the impressively talented puncheur will start the first of hopefully many years for us. Rated as being an outside shot for one of the monuments of cycling providing the right support the 22 year old will look to come good on that promise by shadowing Jay McCarthy and compatriot Omar Fraile.

Young rider
Ben Turner has signed a stagiare deal for the team and providing his progress with the team, he could secure a contract with the team for the future. He is projected to be a solid sprinter but lacks the real top speed of a leader so should find himself in the career of a leadout man if he impresses.

Overall we feel we have adjusted well to life back in the PCT division, Life may be hard for us without Louis Meintjes but I certainly feel we should cope fine without him with the signings we have made. It may not be enough for promotion looking at our competition but we should look to give a creditable showing over the coming year.

I like your team a lot with the strong regional focus and having someone for every terrain. Getting Oliveira for Van Baarle was a great move I think. Hope Viviani can contribute to some TTT wins.
I think getting back to PT could be very much possible!
