Hey im curious,

For all of you in Denmark how are the press and people in general handling the Riis admmision?

I'm not danish, but for what it's worth, he's been excluded from the Danish Sports Hall of Fame...

I'm danish, and the reaction to Riis's admition is quite mixed.

As issoisso writes, he has been excluded from the danish Hall Of Fame, and since the admission, he has been on the front page every day, with people calling him a cheater, liar and so on.
There has also been articles about his family, and a lot of speculations of whether Rolf Sørensen has also used drugs...

Polls on the other hand, show that people in Denmark are pretty divided about this issue. About 60 percent of the population, feels that it doesn't make a big difference, as all the other riders in the peloton at that time used EPO or other drugs, and that no matter what, the victory in the TOur, was a result of hard work for several years.

The remaining 40 percent feels that he is a liar and cheater, and that he should give back the yellow jersey...

actually it's more than 60%, but it depends on witch poll you looked at... Riis said that he got a lot of mails the day after and only one out of every hundred was a negative mail.. So here in DK, most of us support Riis..

I'm of course also very disapointet, but I knew it since 1999, when the danish tv station Dr1 made a documentary about how the teams were using doping, and riis was faced with a haematokrit value of 56.. So it was never a huge suprise, and I think that's why we still support him..

The Danish press has actually been "mild" at him compared to the forein news papers.
