Well, I know that this sport is very popular, but since we have a topic for curling and speed skating, handball is more than allowed too
Yesterday, the opening match, Norway vs. Denmark, was played in the Men's European Championship. The same two teams played a test match about a month ago where Denmark lost with quite a large margin. Yesterday, the match was more equal, but Denmark made a lot of technical faults, making it easy for Norway who basically controlled the match from the end until ... the last 3 minutes. In no time, Denmark had fought its way back in the match, and with 3 seconds left Denmark was only down with one and had the ball -- unfortunately, they missed, and they lost yet again.
Exciting and a deserved win for Norway. |

Handball is extremely popular here, not really my sport though
I'll probably be watching a few of the bigger matches, if I find the time.

We played Handball once in Sports Studies, it was pretty good to play, not sure about watching it, i'm not sure what that would be like. But it's good to play, even though i've only done it once

It's an exciting game actually. I used to watch my national team a lot when I was younger. But I haven't seen a game in ages.

Handball has absolutely no following in the UK - we find it quite odd (and please, feel free to destroy me for saying this, I'm just reflecting the views of a nation) that you just get a load of people throwing the ball into a goal where the keeper has absolutely no chance at all of stopping it

It does look a lot like that, Crommy, but theres appearently loads of tactics involved not to mention some serious physical fighting.
Gotta love than Denmark bounced back today and destroyed Montenegro. We look pretty good for going into the middle round with enough points to challenge for 2nd place.

Well, Montenegro isn't a good team, so it was expected. But yes, it was good to see Denmark finally win something |

Wait and see, cio. Your championship is soon over, once Denmark beats you with minimum 10 goals |

I have never felt more confident in a semifinal . and we have been in ones for 3 Eurochamps running - than this time.
I mean, +10 Croatia, +10 poland is way bettter than the usual fare the last many years.
This is OUR year. I simply cant bear another Bronze (even if it beats 4th by a lot)
