A very interesting read on the coincidences of the thousands of years old Mayan calendar and how the might have predicted the end of the world in 2012.

I'd like to add two things to the article:

1. Nostradamus who lived centuries ago and didn't know about the Mayans also predicted the end of the world in 2012.

2. 2012 is when something will happen that only happens every few hundred million years: the earth's magnetic poles will shift. yup, that's right, compasses will start pointing south and a lot of electronic equipment will be screwed up

Not that I'm supersticious, but in 4 years' time this should be interesting
